Well after really not being happy with the seams and reading too many horror stories on the forums I worked with Marineland and they are going to reimburse me for the tank. So I think at this point I will end up buying a Deep Blue Pro 90 gallon.

Ok so now I have a brand new Deep Blue Pro 90 RR.

Much much better build quality than the Marineland! Now I have to paint the back of the new tank.

Today was a big day. Decided that I wanted to tackle moving the 55 gallon to the other side of the room so I can get the 90 in place. I want to take my time with the 90 getting the floor leveled and reinforced. This will also give me time to get the plumbing all squared away and work out any bugs in the system before I start adding livestock.

Here are progression pics of the move today. Everyone is accounted for and the corals are looking better each hour.

All the animals are looking really good today! I'm really glad that the move went well and now I can take my time with the 90 build.

That's so funny with the buckets ha!

I'm going to attempt to put your worries to rest about the tanks weight.... So figure 90g times 10lbs per (a little extra to comp for some heavier sand/rock) is 900 lbs....

Now take 4 guys our size (I'm like 220 honestly) and stand next to eachother in that 4 foot area. No problem right? Same weight. I bet a 5th person would still be ok.

Now let's all jump at the same time. That's going to double the weight if not more! It's still going to be all good.

The weight is distributed much better with your 4 foot tank. If that doesn't make you feel better about it, I'll text you a picture of my(rotting, literally) shed built on dirt with 2x4 roof spaced 24" on center. Which has been supporting about a 1.5 ton 60 foot tall pine tree all winter! And the tree is basically balanced on it!

As for plumbing trying to decide whether I go PVC or flex pipe (like the pool hose). Thoughts?

I'm no plumber but I would think flex pipe has to sacrifice at least a little flow.

LOL!

Yea it's not so much worried that the floor won't support it I just don't want the tank to shake when people walk by or the kids jump all over the place. Just going to throw a 4x4 support beam with a small header to really make it solid. Im sure the 90 will be a lot sturdier than the 55 as well because the 55 is so narrow and on a deep blue stand it can be kinda wobbly.

I am going hard PVC for the drain and think I will do flexible hose for the return. The only reason I was considering PVC for the return was to add a valve to have the return pump help with water changes. Tired of carrying and emptying buckets lol.

Do you have a basement sump pump by chance? I run my water change house right into the sump and let that thing do the work for me.

My tank in the garage is even easier I put a sink right next to it, down the drain it goes!

No thought about doing a basement sump, but there would have been too many issues to try and put it in the location I would have wanted due to drain plumbing and plumbing from my furnace being in the way.

I can run a flexible hose down to the slop sink in the basement for the old water and another hose coming up from the water mixing bucket to the sump. I just need to work out the specifics.
