Check out this guy who just grows outside. I’ve just got some buckets in my basement with a grow light on them for pods. Add phyto and dried spirulina every now and then. Works great. It’s so easy

I’m new to this but I am only doing pods for now. Tigger in the back and Tisbe up front. Just did my first harvest and water change. Tisbe seems to be turning the phyto clear faster than Tigger so far. Simple glass jars with rigid airline. Using Phyto Feast to feed. Growing phyto seems more complicated than pods and Phyto Feast is so concentrated and fairly cheap I figured this is a good place to start.

how do you harvest? scoop and dump or is that plumbed to your tank to auto feed?
I don't harvest them, they just do their thing and end up in the display. There are thousands on the sides of the tank before the lights come on. Once my fish are out of QT and in the display I'll probably harvest the Caulerpa and shake it out in the display to get any pods out of it before tossing it in the compost bin.

would it be worth it to put in one of those "pod hotel" 3D printed things in the culture jar?
Poseidon Reef Systems sells a "PodNest" separately that I have been looking at getting. Seems like a better choice than a pod hotel.

I have seen some that just have a LED strip light on them for the Phyto. is that OK to use or is it better to have an actual plant growth or reef light on it?

Does the cope pod one need a light?

Well, I am finally starting my phyto and pod culture. I am starting the phyto culture first with nanno and tetra., then when that is ready, starting the pods.
I have ridgid air tubing on order so that will replace the tubes and 1 way valves you see now. That was just am experiment. The grow light will be a backup. Iwill ahve these sitting on my window sill for natural sunlight.
lets see if I can do this.

OK. I got the Phyto from @Reef By Steele yesterday and got my cultures started. I mixed fresh salt, and cleaned all the containers out, and get it in the window for natural sun. I REALLY hope I got this right.
