What’s up Reefers!
We can’t all be Marine Biologists or Oceanographers, our lives take us on different paths sometimes. I’m a Journeyman Millwright of 20 years, basically an industrial mechanic. My super power is the ability to look at mechanical things that fail or need servicing, and figure out how to do so.

This ability and training allows me to diagnose and rectify many mechanical issues with reef tanks. I am also conditioned to perform regular maintenance routines on my tanks as well.

So my question to you is, what is YOUR profession, and how does it help you with reefing? :thinking-face:
Boatyard manager of a “working” marina. Working means we haul boats out of the water for repairs, not just a marina with boat slips. It just adds to my love of the water, and the life it holds.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all those that have served either in the military, police, fire, first responder, paramedic, whatever else I maybe forgetting. A lot of you are not appreciated or thanked enough. With many friends and family in those fields I know what you went through and do go through.
Thank You!

A&P license or what? Never worked regionals, but mainline has been my jam for almost 30 years now.

I know. It was a hard pill to swallow when he told me I could be his apprentice. I was devastated for minutes!
I’ve just been a hobbyist bacon eater for many years. Some day I’d also like to make a career of it.
I didn’t know I had to go through an apprenticeship first.

Systems Engineer

Idk if I'd say the profession helps much aside from giving me just enough extra money to do this while having a house full of kids, but my skill set that got me this line of work fits right in with how I stay engaged with the tank whether things are going good or bad.

It has certainly helped me keep the hobby cheaper. Probably wouldn't have had the confidence to diy alk monitoring or dosing pumps if it wasn't for what I work with. ~$120 for a dosing pump setup that looked like it was going to cost me $800

That should have said couldn't. dang these fingers!
I don't think that field could support more then 1 anyway. You are remanded to hobbyist level.
