Very very cool. I remember watching an episode of Tanked (not reliable source) where they were mentioning this big shark sculpture may be made of fiberglass and if it was they couldn't use it. Is there any truth the this statement that fiberglass isn't good in a tank. I know my source isn't the best but I am just curious.

None at all, its acctually easier.

Actually no, it isn't IME. Drilling wet rock, you get the pulverized contents stuck on the grooves of the drill bit to the point where the drill no longer really drills as it does spin in place. With dry rock, the pulverized rock has a better chance of moving up and out, without sticking to the drill bit itself. I've been drilling rock for a long time, and I hate drilling wet rock. I would much rather drill dry rock any day of the week.

If you have the rock inside water it will be easier, the drill bit does not get hot and the particles get out in the water. Wet rock drilling without water I agree its not that easy. I have used all three methodes and the easiest is drilling rock inside water, second dry rock and third wet rock without water. Anyway reef rock is not like drilling concrete :)

Most big hole in concrete are done wet with diamond bits, ex. drilling or cutting concrete 24" thick and making 8" holes. The reef rock is the same way. I do agree with you that most difficult is wet rock without being submerged in water, but for the rocks we are drilling ..........piese of cake :) I am an old construction fella that has used air hammers LOL

Really great design! Scale-able too. I like.

You're starting to motivate me in a very DIY kinda way, sir...might have to try something like this soon.

ver nice! I like!

Pappy, check out Bulk Reef Supply videos on youtube about aquascaping. They show you how to cut rock with a hacksaw so that it can balance on its own.

Drill in a bucket of water, not in the tank. New pics?

It's great idea but people have been doing this for years. When I did it a few years ago I got the idea from Sanjay..who did it several years ago when he set up his 500g.
