Hey all, thought I would start a build thread for my tank. The idea for this tank is a low cost bugetish build reusing components when possible. Most components of the build were used, purchased for cheap, or free.

The Lagoon Tank and Stand
Found on FB marketplace.

The tank is acrylic. It measures 36 inches long, 32 inches wide, and 12 inches tall. External overflow box with two drains. Two returns.

The stand is made of steel measuring 36 inches long, 32 inches wide, and 36 inches tall.

Below the Lagoon
Standard 29 gallon tank for sump
7” filter sock and holder
AquaExcel media reactor
Simplicity 120DC skimmer
BRS titanium heater 200 watt x2
Ink Bird ITC-306a
Jebao DCP 6500 return pump
Tunze Osmolator 3155 auto top off
Trigger Systems Crystal 10 gallon reservoir

Drain plumbing is 1” red PVC
Return plumbing is 3/4” blue PVC
Sch 80 fittings for both

Above the Lagoon
AI Hydra 32 x2

In the Lagoon
AI Nero 5 x2
60lbs reef sand
?lbs Pukani rock

Livestock
Planning on mostly carpet anemones with a bunch of ocellaris clowns
Maybe a mangrove or two
CUC to be determined

Stand looked rough as well.

Used Novus to clean up the acrylic. Stand was refinished. Removed the old plywood, added new, and painted. Had the steel stand sandblasted and powder coated.

Clean and fresh

Wow! You did a fantastic job cleaning that tank and stand up.

What is the purpose of the Red Bull cooler? Are you going to dose frozen food?
Thank you! Definitely took some time.

I really just needed to put it somewhere so I kind of just threw it there for now. I have a chiller that I was thinking of using that fits in that spot as well, not sure yet. Maybe dosing in the future but for now likely just dosing beer for myself while watching the tank
The more I look at it the more I like the dimensions. I'm looking forward to following your build.
Thanks for following along.

Update as of 3/20/24

Tank now has water! It has been running for a few days now and everything seems to be running smoothly. Lights have been installed as well. Although I do need to get some shades for them.

The next step will be adding new sand and the contents of a preexisting 55 gallon tank so it should be fairly quick transferring things over.
