But they were not purchased around that size. Maricultured colonies are generally shipped out around fist sized nowadays, where most of those are 4x+ larger. So we're seeing them two years+ later."Here's a tank full of maricultured corals. Sorry about the construction mess! They were purchased around this size – recently – and are still being moved around so often that there's fresh epoxy everywhere."
Here's one of the better-known retailers in Germany, Korrel-zucht.Really? Then there must be a lot of retailers selling colonies like this.....I'd love to see links to a few places like that so we can see more tanks like this! Can you share a few examples?
You can get them here. Most retailers are willing to sell small colonies, just have to be sure they don't say, "Well that's like 40 frags so I'm going to charge my one frag price x 40." The difference is in the conditioning of the coral, as most of us know some will shift or not do great until they're well conditioned. This is where aquacultured frags have great benefit over most other sourcesThe same we would expect to pay for a nice 1-2" frag they can get small colonies. Sucks for us in the US.
I am happy that Krzysztof has given me permission to share his reef here at R2R! Let's show him how much we love it so leave a comment if you do! Maybe we can persuade him to come share more photos and info about it!
