"Here's a tank full of maricultured corals. Sorry about the construction mess! They were purchased around this size – recently – and are still being moved around so often that there's fresh epoxy everywhere."
But they were not purchased around that size. Maricultured colonies are generally shipped out around fist sized nowadays, where most of those are 4x+ larger. So we're seeing them two years+ later.

Really? Then there must be a lot of retailers selling colonies like this.....I'd love to see links to a few places like that so we can see more tanks like this! :) Can you share a few examples?
Here's one of the better-known retailers in Germany, Korrel-zucht.

Here's a raceway at DeJong Marinelife (wholesaler) in the Netherlands.

Frags are gaining traction in some other areas, but maricultured and wild caught corals reign king.

The same we would expect to pay for a nice 1-2" frag they can get small colonies. Sucks for us in the US.
You can get them here. Most retailers are willing to sell small colonies, just have to be sure they don't say, "Well that's like 40 frags so I'm going to charge my one frag price x 40." The difference is in the conditioning of the coral, as most of us know some will shift or not do great until they're well conditioned. This is where aquacultured frags have great benefit over most other sources :)

Wow....further proof that costs in our domestic frag market are irrational and off the chain.

KZ has sweet acro colonies with a dozen branches for less than US$80.

Even with shipping from Germany and VAT that beats domestic pricing.

 Domestic pricing would be like that much for a half-inch (0.5" / 1.5cm) frag and you'd still have to add on shipping and maybe tax!!!!

Frags ought to be cheaper by a wide margin, not 10x the cost. It's upside down right now...worse than buying a new car.

Also further reason for tanks like the one in this thread to be fully explained rather than just waived around like a centerfold.

A tank like this sourced from the USA market would cost 10x what this guy paid – maybe more; and this guy surely paid plenty for the tank you see.

Further, a tank started from frags like this would take a up to a decade to grow in to this extent.

 The photos and video are just not realistic by themselves....even misleading...especially to newbies.

I don't understand how they're misleading. You can purchase maricultured and wild colonies in the US. The colonies shown on first page have been grown out for years.

Krzysztof is a tenured reefer keeping reef aquaria since 1996. You can see his past award-winning tank here. Like most reefers do, once it got so dense, he removed overgrown coral and started with smaller colonies again.

No comment on your notes for US frags ;)

I am happy that Krzysztof has given me permission to share his reef here at R2R! Let's show him how much we love it so leave a comment if you do! Maybe we can persuade him to come share more photos and info about it!

None of that is in question....and none of that was included with the vids and photo. :)

All of it would have been most welcome! :) :) :)

It's a very fine collection of corals. :) :) :) :) :)
