I have a reefer 425 (47”x22”x22 ~91 gal) that I’m trying to set up an acropora tank in. I’ve been trying to avoid pumps on the side walls as it’s in living room and visible on entering room. I had 2 MP40s on the back wall and I added 2 gyre xf350s on either side of the overflow to try to hide them and provide good flow. I’m not entirely happy with the flow. I’m running the gyres at 40% pulsing and the MP40s on reef crest at 60%. If I turn them up any more I blow the sand and it’s a bit noisy. I’m considering adding a smaller gyre on one of the side walls. Am I crazy having 5 power heads in a 4 ft long tank?

The number doesn't matter- it's really about delivering the kind of flow you need where you need it! It will be an ongoing dance for sure! :)

I have 6 powerheads in my 4 foot tank so no- you're not crazy (or i am too)

Good trouble: Have mushrooms ever become pests in your aquarium?
