Hello all!

Two days ago I did a 20 % water change on my tank following the water change one my my clownfish was actively dying. My lobophyllia has not opened up yet. I tested all my levels nothing seemed to be super off. Alk 10.3 , calcium 400 , mag 1320, phos 0.25, nitrate 25. What could be off ? My flow or lighting has not changed. I added 1 capful of mb7 thinking my tank could possibly be depleted from bacteria. I have a 55gallon tank. My salinity was a little off I fixed this issue the very next day. Any thoughts ?

Temp match or at least close? I dont think .002 would cause too much issues. You didnt dump all that ro water right on the fish or coral did you?
Temp dropped maybe 4 or 5 degrees and no I didn’t dump right on the coral. I usually dump any new water into my sump that just filters it back through the return pump to the tank

You say you think your tank is possibly depleted of bacteria.

What makes you think that?

How old is your tank?

This might be the problem. But need a bit more info

Welcome.
1. Did you use a different salt?
2. What is the water from?
3. Was the existing and new from that source?
4. How old is the tank?
5. If setup in past week or 2, How did you start establishing bacteria?
6. When from starting the tank did you start adding livestock and what?
7. Is the water cloudy?

The bacteria wont just deplete unless you add something that kills ba,teria. And you cant fully starve bacteria out. During bacteria establishing phase, you may have drop in oxygen because of bacterial bloom. This will be shown usually by some cloudyness.

No my tank is close to a year old. Trace elements maybe ? I do have a refugium so maybe that could be depleting some of them already

Ok so that answers questions 4 through 6. What about questions 1, 2, 3 and 7?

8. How deep is your sand in display and refugium if you have sand?
9. When was the last time you cleaned sand bed in tank?
