tank redone.jpg
Hey guys, been lurking for a while now.
Tank is a 32 x 30 x 22 rimless cube built by...me :-). I just recently re-populated the tank after a bad mishap, so I'm a bit low on fish at the moment ( more on that later).
as it is today :
-roughly 80 gal tank with a false back wall for an overflow ( think bio cube, but with a drain!)
-20 gallon sump
-20 gallon refugium containing a large maxi-mini carpet population (for propagating purposes) and a pile of fast-growing Chaetomorpha
-blueline hd 40 return pump
-mrc calcium reactor
-bubble magus NAC6C skimmer
-about 1/2 cup of carbon run through a phosban reactor
-bi weekly 25 gallon water changes
-lit by a pair of custom LED arrays
As you can see, I prefer a minimalist aquascape. I pested my lfs to order in a whole new batch of rock just so I could pick through it lol. The Idea was always to have several shelves arranged in tiers with a small bommie off to the side. I tried to arrange the rocks following the principles of the golden section as much as possible.

As I mentioned earlier this tank went through a mishap. About half a year ago, I returned home from a frag swap to find my sps dominated tank to be a milky white. On closer inspection it turned out that the blueline pump had randomly stopped working on an unseasonably cold night. Apparently the circuit breaker "fooled" the 1 month old pump into thinking it had overheated and it shut off. All the heaters were in the sump. I turned the pump back on and it's run flawlessly ever since. Here's a couple pics before the incident

YAY got it lol
and now for the promised pics. I didn't take too many build pics cuz I was too busy holding heavy pieces of glass together lol.

Not too bad of a match considering it was all cut by hand without power tools :-)

the siliconed tank. I built it on the stand since I'd never be able to lift the finished product myself.

Anyway, so much for regrets.
Some pics of livestock after the re-stocking. I'm still collecting new sps, so the tank is lacking them at the moment.

differences in blue-ness of pics are mostly from using my droid to take pics instead of the regular camera which only works when it feels like it

Your tanks looke really nice Tony! Glad I finally got to see some pics of it. How hard was it to build your own tank out of glass and what thickness glass did you use? I also had no clue you had a tank crash of sorts. Glad to see you're getting back on your feet. That piece of Bananna Berry I got from you is growing nicely so whenever you need a frag back let me know.
