Hi I was curious and wanted to know if anyone could help me out. Been dealing with this algae for a while now took a quick pic before work gonna test when I get home. But is this hair algae?
I'm doing an experiment... I have two 15gal AIO nano tanks both with three chambers in the back, intake/filtration/output as is typical. I'm interested in putting a long thin LED bulb about 12" or so on 24/7 in the intake chamber (instead of a filter sock which I have removed). This chamber is...
I upgraded to a larger tank and I’m currently going through the classic “ugly phase.” I transferred some live rock with zoas and other corals, added new dry rock, and recently installed an Apex system. Over the last few weeks I noticed GHA and scrubbed most of it off, but now I’ve confirmed I’m...
Hi everyone, my fluval evo 13.5g has been set up 9 months. 2 months ago I added a new large piece of dry rock. The last 4/5 weeks I’ve had hair algae on that rock. It was pretty bad but managed to get rid of most with flux RX. However all my parameters are good. Phos 0.05, nitrate 9, alk 8.1, ph...
Hello all, I’ve been battling with what thought are Dino’s for months. My nutrients, phos and Nitrates, where low so been adding Seachem phosphate and nitrate and have brought those levels up. Added copepods and ocean magik live phyto and bacteria. This just won’t go away even with manual...
I know it changes some from night to day but this seems extreme, and the Kenya tree is always droopy when I get up in the morning. Could it be the macro algae?
Howdy All!
My tank is about 8 months old (this time around), and I noticed my water get VERY clear... and then something popped up. I just vaccumed it all up, but, I should have taken a picture. Was brown with a bubble coming out of the top of the string on the sand and lower rocks... so I took...
Ive got a brown/green/red slime on my sandbed. Its only on the sandbed, the rocks are completely clear of it.
It does seem to disappear or get a lot less visible when the lights go out at night.
It clumps together on the sandbed like a mat. It doesnt blow off like dust.
I didnt used to clean...
Hi everyone and tyia for your help. This forum is surely a life saver.
Right now though, it is really rough. For many weeks my tanks has been fighting a battle with these brown algae. See pictures. My phosphates have read 0 for the longest time so I've been feeding Neophos, I'm not normally...
Hello,
As you can see there's algae growing on the fungia coral.
I tried brushing it off with soft bristle kids toothbrush very gently to no avail.
It somewhat responds to feeding.
Are there any ways to rescue this? Perhaps a coral dip of some sorts?
Thank you.
I dosed 0.33cc (two small scoops, recommended for 10gal tank size) of FluxRx on 12/5 in my 13.5gal tank. Removed chaeto and chemipure blue before dosing.
I removed as much GHA as I could manually and scrubbed the remaining before I dosed. It has since been 16 days and I have yet to see any...
Hey guys I have been battling green haired algae for a little while with manual removal and getting my nutrients under control I plan on using reef flux to really eradicate the rest of it and get everything under control my question is I do have some grape caulerpa in my refugium and was...
About a month or so ago I had a small patch of this red colored algae pop up in my tank. Every time I try and vacuum it out it spreads slightly more and comes right back the next day. Color intensifies as the lights turn on and starts to disappear as lights turn off. It's a rusty red color - not...
Hola,
I recently got new live rock and this algae started growing. I just want to know if it’s OK or if it’s a bad one that I should get rid of. Thank you!
I have a Surf4+ that I just took offline from my 300 gallon system. Worked good, but I've moved onto a Pax Bellum reactor. $550 new.

Hi all,
Recently my small 6 gal cube is having a bit of a hair algae problem. Honestly I’m not super concerned, I remove most of it by hand and it’s not too bad, but i wonder: what inverts do you recommend that eat hair algae? I heard emerald crabs may do it. Also urchins, but I don’t have the...
Hi all - I'm new to the hobby - my tank is a little over 2 months old. 29 gal AIO. I'm struggling a bit trying to get rid of some stubborn algae on sandbed, in conjunction with keeping nitrates and phosphates at the right levels. hoping for some suggestions. my goal with the tank is a mixed...
I have been having this water surface problem. Some type of green film has been building up. Manual removal does not work; it just comes back in hours. Anything it touches (equipment, fingers, containers) it sticks to. Today, I decided to put it under the microscope.
It is not algae. It is a...
I just finished the design and testing phase today and I'm blown away at how effective this is. The unit uses the Aquablade for scraping (glass or acrylic version) and fits standard Python hose (1/2" ID). I was sick of scraping large chunks of algae after a vacation only to have it float all...
