    Plastic Photo Studio For Coral

I’m surfing on Instagram these days. I had seen someone design a special plastic photo studio for coral inside the tank. ● Its color is black to reduce light reflection. ● It is a magnet device that could easily move the location on the glass. ● It has a hole that could easily place our frag...

Plastic water bottle in the reef tank

Hi All, My bi-color blenny was nipping on my favia so the coral had to end up in my HOB refugium. In order to keep the frag plug straight I cut off a water bottle tip (please see image below). Do you think having this kind of plastic in the reef tank would be a problem?

2 Part Epoxy and Corals, long term relation?

Hello here what I have: It's a 2 part Epoxy and I would be curious for those who are "expert" in that domain. I was thinking to "cook it" for a little time once I finish what I have to do, any though? Thank you

What to do with plastic frag plugs?

I got an SPS set 2 - 3 weeks ago with corals mounted on some plastic frag plugs. My concern is that I don't really want these plugs glued onto my rocks, but on the other hand the corals are already encrusted on to the plugs and I'm afraid to cut them. These are my very first SPS and I don't...

Is TPR (thermoplastic rubber) Reef safe?

Trying to find is TPR (thermoplastic rubber) is safe for use in my sump. I have four TPR rubber anti-vibration feet that I'm looking to use under a skimmer. I guess the proof would be is TPR food safe - but can't find a solid Google answer! Anyone know? My concern is plastic leaching.

Intermediate Topic Plastic for the Reef Aquarium, Part 1

Introduction At the beginning of January, 2019, I wrote an article about glass. Shortly after that, I was asked to write an article about plastic. This is the result. The article below is organized in a similar way as the glass article. Plastic is of interest to reef aquarists because we use...

Where did you get your Water Storage Containers?

I am looking for two containers - a 50-55 gallon container (approx 18" by 47" or so), and a 25 gallon version (18" and about 30" high). I found some on Plastic-Mart, and also Tank-depot, but the shipping is more than the tanks. I have a Tractor Supply near me but their vertical tank is just too...

Corals enjoy the taste of microplastics

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/corals-enjoy-taste-of-microplastics-scientists-find-l57b37jv9 I use a plastic sauce scoop for mixing SW mix in a plastic Rubbermaid 40g bin. A plastic measuring cup. A tiny plastic spoon for Reef Roid. Should we be worried about our tanks too?

is plastic really safe in saltwater

As I look at diy projects (reactors, top offs, etc) they are usually made out of plastic 2 litre bottles. My question is if this is safe? While google isn't showing anyone else showing my concern, I'm worried about the plastic breaking down over time and leaving a large "puddle" on my floor...
