Are there any bivalves that are beginner-friendly? Do all of them need specialty light fixtures?

Hello everyone! A fish shop in my town has a clam in stock and—I am considering adding it to my tank. However, have been told that bivalves are exceptionally difficult to keep alive. I know they need phytoplankton and good water conditions (such as Calcium). However, I am weary about the...

    Flame Scallop Experience

Just curious to know who long people have been able to get flame scallops to live in their tanks. I currently have a red flame and an electric red flame scallop that has been in the tank for a year now. I was told to only expect them to live 6 months or less.
