Our elk taste like beef, just a tad gamier.

Ok, not that anyone wants to hear about my day. I’ve been sick all week and thought I had a sinus infection. Went to the doctor today and tested positive for Covid. I guess this current strain affects the sinuses instead of the lungs, it’s been kicking my ****. My torch that fell before I left for Nashville got reattached and developed bjd. I did an in tank treatment of Cipro, fingers crossed. Otherwise I’m enjoying a three day weekend.

The issue with Arizona deer is the heat. If you don't get the deer taken care of quick the meat can start to get really strong - makes it even gamier

I like mule deer and elk, but I also enjoy javelina which most people can't stand because of the gamey flavor.

Mule Deer tastes like whitetail that hasn't been raised on crop fields.

Ever had a cow raised on sage? That's what mule deer tastes like.

i didnt even consider the heat there with hunting..... what a challenge getting it dressed and quartered fast.

its probably the same tasting as our acorn fed deer here in the very northern part of the state. It was a big change from the corn fed whitetail in the southern part of WI that i was used to, but i really like it. Wife not so much.

Probably similar. If you're familiar with the flavor of sage, add some of that and you've got Arizona muleys. If you're not familiar with sage, go to the grocery store and smell some. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

dont feel like processing a deer for just me to eat which is why i rarely hunt anymore, but will sneak out to that bucks scrape tomorrow and put a game camera on it.

Same here in South Mississippi. We can barley hang our deer unless you have a walk in freezer. We have 2 weeks of winter here lol. Our rut is like 3 hours long, seems like
