Good morning everyone. I got a doe for the freezer yesterday afternoon after a very scary incident envolving a tree stand that I was in falling right as I was getting ready to climb into the seat area. So thankful my husband was still at the base of the stand and the good Lord gave him the strength to hold me and the stand both up until I managed to climb back down. If I had fallen all the way I would have fallen about 20ft and been really hurt or worse because there are lots of big rocks and trees that I would have hit on the way down. Can I get a recap of yesterday from our group? Internet is slow here.

So thankful my husband was still at the base of the stand and the good Lord gave him the strength to hold me and the stand both up until I managed to climb back down. If I had fallen all the way I would have fallen about 20ft and been really hurt or worse because there are lots of big rocks and trees that I would have hit on the way down. omg. so glad your ok! tree stands are so dangerous, father-in-law had a rung break getting into his and he fell straight down and broke both his legs about 2 years ago.
I prefer my ground blinds up here anymore, plus they are warmer on those sub 0f days and they are easier to nap in......

We think what happened is the wratchit strap loosened up due to all the rain and wind from the storm. Most of our tree stands are screwed into the trees but this one is a new one and we wanted to try the area out before bolting it there permanently. With that being said I will not ever climb in one again that's not bolted down.

and congrats on the doe! getting ready to start a fire in the house and then sneak out and get this camera on that bucks scrape to see if I can get some neat pics, maybe some buck fighting pics. Not going to bother tagging it for just me to eat.

I hurt my ribs that were still healing from my fall from my horse and my lower back and hip is more sore as well from it but it could have been so much worse. I'm not going to lie I cried after it was over and I was safely in the truck.

My husband said the same thing. He said maybe I don't need to be climbing in tree stands anymore because his heart can't take it. I scared him as much as it did me I'm just really glad he had walked to the stand with me to make sure I could get up in it because I'm still sore. Normally he just drops me off and i go climb up in them by myself. He said from now on he's always going to go with me to make sure I get up in them safely.

Oh, the one thing I’m going to do is make Irish Guinness beef stew for the first time. I got almost everything prepped yesterday and it should take just under 3 hours. That sounds like a sound plan, may I also suggest, when riding, you stick with the little mechanical horse outside Walmart, only a quarter.
