For a guy that can't keep Birdsnests alive for nothing! That's 6 months of growth from an inch and a half frag with a single nub started.

I have two big fears when its comes to the tank at this point in time. 1) overflowing tank or sump / back siphon (doing own research on that, and getting tips on how to avoid) & the initial water filling of the tank.

My question for the group this morning when everyone wakes up is on the initial fill.

When doing the initial fill how does everyone do it? For me, I would have 20G brutes. So I would need a little over 3 of them filled with RODI water. Do I just ensure each batch is roughly at the same salinity on the refractometer each time? Do I fill my tank with the rock, & sand, then add water then add salt? Gaaaah nervous LOL *help*

Plumbing photo # 1 : I will add ball valve along the long horizontal run, to adjust flow as needed.
Plumbing Photo # 1 & 3: I will add a check valve along below the T in photo number 3 and along vertical run behind tank in photo number 1.
Sump Photo 1 & 2: Do you see any issues with heater and skimmer placement?
Overflow Photo: i know this is has to be wrong. Should i get a 1 inch x 1inch threaded PVC adapter?

P.S THIS IS ALL DRY FIT, WILL PVC CEMENT WHEN FINAL.

Hi, first did you rinse the sand if you are using dry sand?
Me I would add the salt in the brutes and check salinity on each and check once diluted. For the tank, add rock, after the sand and finally the salted water. I am a beginner so...

Put the rock in first, you want it on the glass., then add sand. Put a small plate on the sand and pour the water on the plate. Remove the plate. You’ll want the salinity the same in all the containers, 1.026. Sorry I can’t help you with the plumbing but I’m sure someone will chime in.

For mine, I just add plain water to about half full, then add salt. Once the salinity is where I want it, I usually let it circulate for a couple of days, then I start adding my lower rock levels. After those are in, I'll add the sand and give it another couple of days to settle out, then add the rest of the water until my tank is almost full (no water in the sump yet) and then add the rest of the rock. Last step is to top off the sump to the return-pump-off level and kick on the return pump. Usually for the first day or two while everything is still getting used to each other I won't run the return pump overnight just to make sure I can see and adjust levels as needed.
