Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Been a bad week. Lost my yellow wrasse on Sunday, went in midnight to clean my broken down, stagnant tank on Tuesday and did exactly what you're not supposed to do, went to ER on Wednesday morning with potential palytoxin poisoning or sepsis, then 3 antibiotics + CT + EKGs + lots of needles later was discharged Thurs night, then Fri morning came to find CBB dead on sand, most SPS RTN'd and about half of LPS dying in the main display.

Today has been a good day, though. Winning at the dad game so far.
sorry to hear this buddy, I have warned the wife that the zoa's pack a punch, so she basically keeps her hands out of the water. Maybe I can steer clear of the emergency room considering I am trying to build a zoa garden

How are things going down there? Hopefully the storm burns out before reaching you.

So sorry to hear this Jojo are you feeling better?
I'm feeling much better. If it was palytoxin, I think I lucked out and had relatively limited symptoms. I got 4 liters of IV fluids, so that might have helped flush it. If it was sepsis, the docs weren't playing around. They started me very quickly on IV Cefepime + Vancomycin and then put me on Levaquin, which I am still taking. Basically a "kill everything" approach.

I may also have been fortunate for just going straight to the ER instead of waiting to see if the chills and muscle aches just went away on their own. Since it all started about 8 hours after getting my hands (wasn't the plan at least) into this tank to clean it, I already suspected something bad might happen.

Hard lesson learned: be very careful and wear protective equipment
