Is there a way to measure only the surface and then calculate further down? I don't think so but it would be great lol

I guess its possible to be close, based on water depth and distance light source is from water surface

For underwater you put your phone in waterproof case or ziplock as mentioned by Tim.

I was thinking more about a way to calculate an approximation, of course based on online measurements with a par meter, but it would be complicated because there would have to be some kind of database for each light. I think no one has thought of doing it because there is no way to make a profit, because it would be great to have a database with all the lights and measurements at all percentages, and then you would be able to search for your light and you would already know what par each percentage has.

I think scallops are still like 9 or 10$ a lb in Maine. But everything's expensive here

That's cheaper than here. We're about $16lb for the big sea scallops
