What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
so every time I drop a cube of Prime Reef in the tank, the elegance balloons up like this. is that good or bad?

I could only take this as a great sign. My meat corals have always responded that way. That's a happy coral

Any cons to the pencil urchins. Ive been seeing them lately and im intrigued
I have heard they chew on wires. I have no wires in my DT though. But they really do not move much. they can move large rock. these buggars are pretty strong. never been on the glass but I heard they will scratch acrylic.

it really looks like it is going to explode. I turned the lights off to take a pic.

Ok, so I decided to make an early afternoon snack. I read an article on the best way to cook bacon. They compared fried, air fried, microwave and baked. Baked was the overwhelming winner. I 100% agreed baked at 400 degrees for 17 minutes is head and shoulders over the rest. How I didn’t come across this a long time ago is beyond me.

yes, it's better but who's cleaning the oven? they made such a splatter when I did it I never will do it again. well, in my oven. I'll cook in at your house all the time! Every try over an open fire? just like roasting a marshmallow.

Im with Tim. It's inflating to give itself more surface area and reach to get fed. There's something in that food that it loves

That's the only way I cook mine Kevin. No chewy ends!

I've cheaped out. I place on a plate with paper towel under and above the bacon in the microwave. the towel pulls the grease away and a much easier cleanup.

the sump looks a bit empty. what is he doing with that? looks set up for chaeto or other macro from the lighting.
Ya, it’s not plumbed in yet, he plans on doing a refugium and put a skimmer in there when he gets more bio load.

Pencil Urchins can eat corals. They like the skeleton but sometimes are willing to go eat the flesh to get the bones.

My Pincushion ate my skimmer wire.

My mom, back in the day when she wasn't allergic to mammal meat, had one of those bacon trays for the microwave. Amazing results!
