Camden,

If your LFS said to feed that food, you need to start asking on R2R and telling your LFS what you want or find another LFS. Hawkfish are exclusively carnivores and serving them generic foods won't cut it. Mysis, Brine, various meaty frozen foods will all work. Most pellets or flakes won't. You can also just use fresh cut up from the butcher. Never cook it. Fish don't have microwaves or stoves and starting an open fire underwater is difficult at best. Their guts are designed to work with fresh uncooked seafood. My preference is usually Mysis because it is readily available and more nutritious than most Brine mixes. They are a stealth and speed hunter so you will rarely see them actually eat, only see the characteristic dart and retreat. It very quickly darts out, snatches the food with a jaw that opens much wider than it looks like it would, grabs the food and then retreats to stalk for more.
I wonder how long prior was this fish pulled from ocean? Probably was eating live most of the time? would dropping in a fresh batch of copepods to start fattening up for future consumption be a good idea?

I've never tried it but it would probably work although even the Longnose tends to go after larger prey like juvenile shrimp. I've never had a problem getting one to take Mysis, just let it partially thaw first to allow the hawkfish to recognize it as prey.

Office office or home office?
Office office. When I work from home I'm sitting at my Dining Room table surrounded by my other tanks.

@luis angel Are your relatives in OK places ahead of the storm?
Nothing is going to happen in Cuba worse than Fidel Castro's communism, but this hurricane looks quite dangerous. Thanks for asking, Paul. My family is more towards the center of the country, quite far from the path. They're sure to get a bit of wind and water, but not the worst of it. The east of the country is going to get the worst of it.

well that's good they shouldn't be in the direct path. 185mph and 40" of rain I'm glad I didn't have vacation plans there this winter. almost went there 5 years ago but there was an earthquake and a small tsunami and Covid ramping up all at the same time so I cancelled the trip.

Same to you Chris. Im the type of person that doesn't share as much of what I have going on as much as I should. And I would respect if you were the same way. No matter what, this little group of misfits cares about you and your well being. And if you want to share anything with us, we'll listen and not judge.
Brother, not sure how I missed this. You and I have had this conversation outside of this thread. You also have my number and can call anytime you need to talk or simply vent. I don't even have to say anything if you just need to offload some stuff. I know you have offered me the same.

This goes for anyone on this thread. If you want to talk, need to talk... gripe, vent, bi..uhmm female dog, I will gladly share my number. I am here for each and every one of you, after all, you are family!
