Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
It looks flipped but do you have a TDS meter. Easiest way to check is to see what the TDS is of the water going to the DI resin and what the water TDS is coming out the waste water valve. Do you remember the name of the unit you purchased. You can get a cheap one on amazon for like $10 dollars which is helpful.

Mine is similar to the diagram as well where the right tube is the waste water and the left tube is the clean water. Some units may have it differently though. Mine is from BRS
They should all be the same for any standard setup. The cartridges and filter housings are generic.

This unit was given to me quite awhile ago. It's a brs 200gpd unit. The tds meter no longer works .
those meters are cheap, get the 2 sensor meter, measures in and out

You actually have it right! I found a very old video with that exact unit from BRS lol

The black or right outlet is the waste water line, they say to run the extension unit waste line through the first unit and the left water line (or blue in their case) is the water that is suppose to go to the DI resin. It is flipped on the new BRS units but as this is an older unit it is set up correctly.

So, I need to switch the waste and good water lines I take it? Also, should the water run through 1 ro membrane then the other and then to my di stage?

Nope you got it right. Its an older unit and it was done a different way on the older units compared to the newer units. See the video above! :D

Wait no you do have it wrong lol. the Black line is the RODI water and the white line is the waste water lol

All the different color tubing was confusing me lol

Well, thank goodness because if I was only making the amount of water I get from waste it would make hardly any water.

I see in the Pic you showed. I'm going to change it so it's correct. This guy had it all screwed up lol. I don't know how my tank even functions with it like this.

Yeah you should not have to change much at all other than the line going into the DI Resin should be from the two part connecter/merger and the single line should be the waste water. It should only product around 5-6 gallons per hour at max efficiency and with the water saver it should help. You just will exhaust your DI resin if you have high TDS going into it.

I would definitely get something like this for $9 just to check the TDS as you always want it at 0 going into the tank or you will have algae galore

That's what makes R2R so valuable. Good find Thomas. I was just going to say, wait, it is still wrong but looks like you already caught it.

So funny story, I started using this rodi unit on the 6' nightmare. And I've been using it on this tank and I've always wondered why my nitrates and phosphates are so high and never seem to come down. It's because im sending wastewater through the di resin. Good grief.
