Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I make 30 gallons in like 2 hours.

Your DI resin is likely exhausted lol if you have made more than 40 gallons it probably needs to be replaced. The DI resin is like a battery & a polisher so if you put 100 or 200 TDS into it (usual tap water TDS numbers), it will still bring it to 0 although after a bit of water it will exhaust and then the output water is practically just tap water at that point or worse lol. The whole point of DI Resin is to take the 10 TDS water coming out of the initial stages and bring it down to 0 TDS after running it through the initial carbon bocks & filters. The initial filters last longer so that's why its good to run it through those first while the DI Resin exhausts quickly (based on how much TDS is run through it). If you have been running waste water it may still leave you with 10 TDS water if the DI resin is exhasted which can contain phosphates & other contaminates still. Definitely worth looking at replacing the DI resin or getting a TDS meter to know if its not exhausted for $9. I have one myself just to check the TDS of my tap.

I mean if you need RODI water 10TDS water is not terrible for a bit especially since you probably have been basically using tap water for a while it seems. Although I would look to get new DI Resin

I still run a refrigerator filter before my RO/DI filter(ro buddy), I don't want to replace the filters in the ro buddy, the BRS filter set up is cheaper to replace filters and DI

That's what makes R2R so valuable. Good find Thomas.

Its funny because even in videos 8 or 10 years ago they changed the units so when I was trying to find that build I had to go 17 years in the past to find it lol its so grainy too 🤣

Right or wrong?

The white line goes to my di stage, the black line goes to the waste.
You actually have it right! I found a very old video with that exact unit from BRS lol

The black or right outlet is the waste water line, they say to run the extension unit waste line through the first unit and the left water line (or blue in their case) is the water that is suppose to go to the DI resin. It is flipped on the new BRS units but as this is an older unit it is set up correctly.

So was the membrane in line to both units or was it one after each other ?

I don’t get into a fight unless it has Florida in it . So Jimmy your on your own .

Hey hey I am an Orlando Magic fan too. I have a bunch of gear signed by Hedo Turkoglu, Jameer Nelson, & Dwight Howard and I actually had season tickets to the Magic for a while. I actually have a Magic basketball that I got with signatures of the whole team from 2009 because they had a Season ticket holder event at Disney and all the players were there signing autographs. It was amazing.

In the older units essentially they run the waste water from the first top member section through the second membrane since its a water saver unit and then the combined lines on the left side are the lower TDS water or water sourced for the DI resin.

The redline is the input water, the blue lines are the RODI output (low TDS water), the black lines are the waste water. One of the Black lines goes into the second membrane to try & save water.

I'm going to order all new filters. I'll make water for my ato but wait to do a water change

Everything I've seen shows the membranes in line waste from first membrane feeds second and the the ro water outlets tie together to the di stage.

I had season tickets during the shaq and up until the Dwight Howard period . I really didn’t like the new building .

I had a hard time following but glad you got it right . Do get a better unit to measure as it’s your first defense to make sure you have everything in line and also when need to replace your filter / filters .

Yeah, I'll order a new one when I order filters.
