Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
im not aware that i have anything that would eat them. theyve just never worked for me, so im hesitant to try again. any of you use the majano wand? you have one, right, wes?

@tharbin , so you didnt just put them in your main tank?
No. I ordered five mediums a month or two ago and put them in the tank and they didn't make it. The first time I did this a few years ago I got ten larges and they cleaned the tank very effectively. I think there were three or four issues that prevented success the second time: the Berghia were small enough and weak enough that they were easy pickings, I added a Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse between the 'treatments' and it doesn't sleep much-if at all, the tank is older so there are more bristleworms and amphipods (eat the eggs) than before, something else I missed.

When I went to order this time most of the suppliers I know were out of large ones and I can't afford X-Large so I bought mediums but I'm growing them out in a 5.5 gallon tank. Big tip if you decide to grow some out. The smaller and simpler the tank the higher your success rate. I've started learning a lot more about raising Berghia as my plan is to let them reproduce in the grow out tank and then when I have some juveniles move some of the adults to the display. In the meantime I'm plucking a half dozen or so Aiptasia a day from the DT to feed them.

According to brs, I should only be making 1.5 times the amount of waste water as I am making rodi with the system I have so I would say a booster pump is going to be a must have. Of course I could install a pressure tank on the whole house as well.
I keep mine at 80 psi , I think you can go 75psi to 80 psi just make sure you get a pump that can get you there . They offered two and the first one didn’t get high enough so i exchanged it and got the larger . But also I have like seven cartridges and two membranes so there was a reason to get the larger one . Hope this helps !

I got mine from William’s Reef, but it doesn’t hold a candle to John’s.
Even yours still looks nice in size . Can’t wait to see it tomorrow . Good night Kevin !

I want one ☝️!
Theyre some super cool creatures. Here's sweet lips. You can probably figure out why she's called that.

My other two are on plugs and dont move.

She seems to have settled down in this location now and is one of the brightest corals in my tank.

They are in a 5.5 gallon grow out tank and eating one or two Aips per day. I had a few false starts on making a safe grow out tank for them and I think I ended up losing one or two in my last mis-step but I'll know more in the morning. The little buggers can fit through amazingly small openings and will follow water and darkness anywhere, even through a HOB filter. They have grown to one and a half to two times their original size. I'd like to see a few egg coils before I move any to the main tank. I'll probably write up my last escapade in my tank thread tomorrow so I have a contest entry.

Thanks for asking.

TLDR; Small and Medium size Berghia are small, if they are also all white, they are probably very hungry and a little weak. Better to bulk them up before introduction.
Tom did you set up a berghia tank? I must've missed that
