What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Sadly my heater in my QT tank malfunctioned over night and I have lost 4 of my beautiful little ones so far. I have ordered another ink bird so hopefully it won't ever happen again.
I’m so sorry Amanda, the downs in this hobby really hurt.

How did you manage to get Mr hitchhiked strategically placed and really show off those meaty corals.?

Wahat’s the rainbow one ?
Magic! I didn’t have my tailspot yet or he would have been in it!

I'm still here! June/July is just back to back travel. Off to London tomorrow, then to Cambridge--expect good photos at least!
Enjoy your trips JoJo!

Sorry Amanda! That hurts. Everyone is giving good advice on the inkbird. I keep two types of thermometer/controllers running. Primary is a Helio that works like an inkbird but just for heat, set to 78 +/- 1. Then I have an inkbird set to 78 +/- 2 to turn on fans + alarm if the temp raises too much (heater goes berserk, hopefully enough time get to it before heater overtakes fans), and the inkbird also has a Finnex heater attached that kicks on if the temp drops too low (Helio breaks and stops heating). Not perfect--ideally need a switch that cuts off the Helio if it goes berserk, but a bit of insurance.

Not talking about natural summer attrition; members are actually still active just on other threads.

Also, It’s normal for humans not to want to hear about daily ailments from others; (gotta still deal within RL family) makes people uncomfortable.

So I will make a proposal strictly for myself and would ask everyone to support it:

If there is something major, I will mention it. If it’s my normal cancer journey stuff I won’t. This is actually how I am outside of this thread anyway.

There will be days I don’t log-in or I do log-in but don’t post or emoji anything. I’m ok. If I wasn’t I would DM one of you.

I would much rather someone ask me how my new fish is, or did a particular coral have some spectacular growth. Or even if a new piece of equipment or methodology worked out.

And that’s all folks from the 3am, cherrios dreaming gal!
I believe my friend Kev was just kidding.
Haven't seen anyone leave here.
We are all here for each other no matter what, married, good bad and the ugly.
We can't reef if physically unable to so y'all mention/talk about/say anything and everything.
That's what we are here for.
You especially Jennifer.
I'm super busy but check in on a couple threads when I have time but you guys come first!
Love y'all!
Don't change and say what you want.
No judgements here.

I was joking Jen, it was just one of those nights, people were busy, tired or just not in the mood. We all know your situation and you get a free pass. Once you are home fand feeling better I know you will be on here all the time sharing your wisdom, humor and encouragement. When I’m on other threads and feel a connection with someone I invite them to join us here. I think there are a couple here because of it. I invited Someone a couple days ago and checked on @Fishy Guy yesterday. People get busy, sick or are going through a rough time in their personal life or with their tank.
^^^This.

@Calmwaters
Oh Amanda I'm so sorry.
Get an inkbird.
Mine is older than my kids ;)
I have 2 heaters plugged into it.
Never had an issue.
So sorry again for the losses.

Thank you I have one on my DT and have ordered one for the QT it should be here tomorrow according to Amazon.

Some yes have chiller, it is for this reason I switch off so I can see if I need it. Inside it is maintain between 25/26 with a/c and the the tank stays between 24.5/25.5, outside it is around 46/48 every day.
Remi, you have similar weather to me. I don't need a chiller because I run surface agitation pretty heavy. This does have drawbacks though because it causes more evaporation (which is what cools the water). When I used to run Metal Halides the surface agitation was enough to keep my tank around 80-81 (27 Celsius). With LEDs now, my heater actually turns on some during the summer to keep my tank at 77-78 (25 Celsius)

Jen, yesterday Kev and I were joking about it, nothing to do with someone being gone or anything, it just happened that Kevin and I were connected at that moment and the joke came out on its own, I myself pass by every day the threads of everyone in this family, what happens is that maybe I don't write because that trust that I have with the members here I don't have it yet with the members of the other threads but that is gained little by little, I am the most new here but you have created such a familiar space here that I don't think anyone is going to be upset, let alone leave, because you or anyone else tells us how they are progressing with whatever situation they have.
I believe there have been 2 or 3 "regulars" to this thread that seem to have fallen off but are still active and post in other threads. She's also not blaming anyone (especially not you) or saying anyone is doing anything wrong. She's simply admitting that she may (or may not) have played a part in scaring people off. She understands that this group is like a family and that life happens with family.

What she said was in love, not anger or pointing fingers.

Hopefully no one is offended.

Porcupine walked by my window just now and gave me some Pepe’ le Pue aroma….

Problem is, the vent under my window is hospital kitchen vent….

Wheat toast and Pepe!
Cook is probably hitting the mota cooking your eggs and toast.

Not arguing, I promise.

She's referring to Fishy and Kipps I believe.
