What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?

So I did not tell my wife this but I put a Sunday special on the menu in honor of @tbrown.
Tim's enthusiasm about food and his creativity has almost inspired me to like food again.
We are having a chorizo Benedict with avocado on top!
Monte Cristo, a southwestern style sheppard's pie and mint chocolate chocolate chip pancakes.
Thanks Mr Brown for the inspiration.
I love me some chorizo and eggs! That's chorizo y juevos around these parts.

Yes and your courage is an inspiration to me every day. :smiling-face-with-smiling-eyes:
Never had a michalada but I'll take one when I get there. ;)
So you better take care of yourself cuz I'll be there sooner rather than later.
Will do!

Someone has to try to outdo Kevin! After all, when he gets reported again we're going to miss him...
Yeah, but I didn’t need to go quite that far- lol - that’s “Laugh My A-sssss Off” Rev!

I'da just said "Nunya" except it was @ESABOE so I couldn't be rude because she's too nice for me to be rude to.

Everyone please see my sad post on my build and give me opinions on what I should do. I will have to do whatever is decided later today because I have church and then my oldest son that's in the Air Force is coming in for a visit before he's deployed again next month and we are having lunch.

I posted this:

Amanda, Do a 75% water change as soon as u can, even just a few gallons before church.

I overdid peroxide too, but the corals weren’t in tank.

U are the best fish mom

I wish to follow, in case I make the same mistakes or can learn to avoid them. can you tag the thread?

I think we should all post our failures as well as successes! from a lot of videos I've watched not a lot talk about the failures.

Here’s her build thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/calmwaters-first-saltwater-build.1034870/

I think the group here is consistent on talking about failures/remedies/successes in both their personal build threads and here in the smorgasbord. I recommend you follow our builds to keep up as it’s an active group

Hey all, im still here and following. Things have become stagnant for me (I guess you can consider this a good thing) I've had the tank going for almost a week. Don't have any livestock & have been using the power of prayer to ensure I do not come home to a watery disaster. Do have to reset the siphon.

I know most of here are WAY passed this point but for the newer folks who are tagging along like myself who are at a similar stage or even earlier and have a HOB overflow. here are some tips that I found helped get the siphon going.

I put plastic food wrap around one of the ends of the U tube. Then I filled the tube as much as I could with water and placed the plastic on the other end of the u tube. I made sure there was water within the box in the DT and dumped a cup of water into the overflow where to U tube is seated. then I flipped the U tube into the chamber, once I removed the plastic a siphon started to occur. There will be an air bubble, to get rid of the air bubble what I did was lowered the box in the DT to allow an increased influx of water to enter DT chamber thus increased the pressure in the U tube and pushing out the air bubble. there might be a tiny air bubble left, just shake the u tube and it will work its way down into one of the chambers and out of the u tube.

I tried to sucking out method which ended up going terribly and filled my mouth multiple times with saltwater. I threw up LOL.

Hey, we have all been in a holding pattern at some point. You have done a great job! We are all still learning every single day here. You aren't alone in ANY of your struggles.
