So the flux RX didn’t work at all. Today is the day I should do a water change. Should I really do one though because my nutrients are very low. That might be why the hammer is mad.

Have you tried dosing 3% hydrogen peroxide to your tank. It seemed to help me tremendously back when I was battling gha.

Let’s see a full picture of tank. I’m very surprised 2 treatments did nothing.

And send us testing results on. Nitrate, Phosphate, PH. We won’t worry about Alk/Mag/Cal cause they won’t be correct and the water change will start to correct.

Most important is let’s see the tank and those numbers.

So, the first thing that needs to happen is you do a complete GHA cleanup. You’ll need to siphon as you go. You’ve got to get it down as close to rocks as possible. For coral frags that are covered, if you can remove from tank and do peroxide (follow Kev’s measurements exactly, but for a gallon of water that you have in a container/bowl to soak frags in - that would be best.

Then put frags back in scape.

I’m assuming no water changes were done during Spring Break? Either way, do a 50% to ensure you get all the loose GHA that will be all over after you scrub/pick out.

Once all that is done, let’s see the tank again. I don’t think you should do a 3rd treatment. I’d rather see you bump up CUC crew significantly as they will eat it if it’s short. Your’s has been consistently to long for them to tackle. Even a tang won’t want it that much.

In addition to CUC, we should go, over all the products your feeding fish and corals and see about adjusting. We need to get to root cause.

Send us a list, how much you feed and how often.

Stop amino acids or anything like that for promoting growth.

We will,figure out, but at the end of the day, you are going to have to put in the work, all the way.

Ok, when I meant siphon, I meant you are using something like a toothbrush to scrub off the algae the siphon just catches it. The siphon by itself is useless. Can you do more then 10 gallons today? Just saw what you said about Dad helping - yes much better to have help!

I can do 15 gallons.

I hope I have enough glue to do them all I think there are a few that I can just put on the sand if my research is correct.

I'm telling you, there's something causing the GHA. Mine was rust/iron. If you can't find th source of the GHA, even if the Flux works it'll just come back. If your nutrients are low, it's possible that it's a false reading due to the algae "hiding" the true levels. My nitrates were 0 in my old tank with GHA and 35 once the GHA died.

Let’s not do anything to stress the corals anymore then they already are. Leave alone for now.

Depends on the material... Aragocrete rocks are hard to drill if they're 1:1 Aragonite to concrete, easier when the ratio goes up. Live rock is typically old coral skeleton and should drill easily.

100% agree. Let’s get that algae out manually with your Dad’s help.

Also, I remember you were using LFS water. For now just use the bottled Distilled water for RODI and making your own saltwater. Let’s just see if LFS is the problem regarding water.

I know you looked at all equipment. But go over one more time with dad - including sump.

I agree with @tbrown , although I’ve never done it, live rock is very porous and should be easy to drill.
