People handle the death of their dogs differently. I have always gotten a new one right away, not to replace the other one but to help me and my family feel occupied and take our minds off the one we lost. It always helped. We lost our golden retriever 3 days before Christmas to cancer, died while at the vet, we did not put him down. My oldest son, just a child then , was crying and said it ruined Christmas. My senior year at OSU I worked at an animal hospital, a previous employee walked in with a Bernese Mountain dog, the most beautiful dog I had ever seen. A year later Family Circle magazine listed the top 10 family dogs, the Bernese made the list. The day after my golden died I was looking at the newspaper ( for you younger reefers, this used to be how we got the news) and there was an add for Bernese puppies. I called my wife and told her to have our oldest son ready when I got home we were going to get a puppy. We had a great Christmas!

We usually wait about a week to a month before getting another dog - as Kevin said, not to replace. However, we have always had 3-4 dogs at a time since my kids were born. We have them spaced out so we have at least one young dog with the puppy.

Yes! I told Dixon to send me the perfect dog right before we had to put him down. They are golden doodles!

Will do. Yesterday I ordered some brightwell restor to help with the receding white tissue. I was told to soak flakes in the restor for 10 min and than feed to torches. Is that correct and the best way to do it?

I also tried feeding my torches for the first time today. I bought some misis shrimp and spot feed them. They didn’t seem to eat it tho. Most of it would just float away. What should I be feeding?

The flake is a good way for long term. You can keep doing it weekly or every few days and overtime see some nice health flesh start to develop.

If you have a torch that is having active recession and needs immediate care, then that's when I use a long bath of restore and a few other things depending on if it's a bacterial infection or not.

When eating flakes or other foods, there is a little amount that gets ingested, and sometimes the corals don't even ingest it all.

That's why a long bath overnight or 12 hours is really helpful.

It insures that the coral takes in the meds throughout the whole process and gets a good dose.

I will start feeding the restor with the food when I get back from my trip.

The torch still has a flesh band but it’s been slowly receding.

Ugh just got a notice from the seller that there is a delay with FedEx and my fish might not arrive until tomorrow. They said they should be fine because they ship them with enough oxygen and water for 3 days and for me to drip acclimate them as soon as I get them but I don't know if that's wise since I have read that can kill them.
