Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
So we got the old guy-20 million guaranteed for the fight.
Young guy-40 million.
Blows my mind.
$20 million for basically showing up with a pulse isn't too bad of a gig either.

I actually fired up the snowblower yesterday just to make sure!
I sometimes neglect removing snow for a few days and just use the snowmobiles to go anywhere, although 800 ft of driveway makes snow removal a part time job!

Does anyone elses skimmer go so crazy every night that is lifts the lids off? I have it turned down all the way and the air dialed back, it has done it since it broke in. My old skimmers never worked this well, skimmate is almost black and really thick. Could confuse it for the morning coffee

Drier skims have more bubbles. Make it a little wetter and it should knock that down. I've also heard that oil (I think Olive Oil?) on the inside rim will cut the bubbles faster which could help.

I stopped running a skimmer. Might fire one up again now that the tank is getting going.

I hired this fuzzy chiton to take care of the gha on my rocks. He’s been cruising the glass for the past two days. I hate to do it with the holidays coming up but I think I’m going to have to fire him today. :angry-face:

The oil works, I used it in the biocube 32 which had a super small skimmer so it would last longer.

How long have you had this guy Kevin? Did he do the trick?

About 4-6 weeks and there are 2 in there. I boosted all my cuc. They are nocturnal so this one is acting unusual. Well my gha is still there but no longer growing and spreading. It’s at a standstill, so I’m hoping Im on the verge of being on the way out. I let him go today, I feel bad he had a family and his youngest is physically disabled and uses a crutch to get around. He needs surgery that they can’t afford or the little guy is toast. I hope another door opens for him and he learns to work harder and focus on gha not film algae and he makes enough for his little ones surgery and buys and cooks the biggest Christmas goose in London for him and his family. ;) Oh, I also added 6 stomatella snails ( I already had a few in there) but they were really small.

Lol I love it. I have about 6 or 8 stomatella that came in on my live rocks. They are a favorite in my cuc

just spent the whole day removing my refugium, sand and all. moved the rock to the display for the fish and cuc to eat the ulva. it was becoming a huge mess of detritus, slime, lettuce etc and i was not exporting anything. was only producing a small amount of ulva for the tang and fox face. The light was growing algae in my return piping, skimmer, sock. Guess i would rather the algae just grew in the main display for the fish and cuc to eat. Am i crazy? Always had one in the past but grew enough algae to actually throw some away every week. My nitrates have been pegged at 0 and have been dosing 2 ppm a day and that seems silly. phos is 0.3.

Also ran the skimmer in some citric acid and cleaned it up.

kevin i am about to place a large cuc order to put some to work for the holidays, so i think its ok if you fire yours
Lin, I see you are from here, I’m from here also. Howdy neighbor!

I need to order more phyto but shipping more than doubles the cost... I don't need anything else.
You can find phyto feast by reef nutrition around some lfs and pet stores for a decent price. I use it and love it because of that exact reason
