Not sure about Dinos though. I did the test where you shake it in a sealed jar with water, and according to the results it's not dinos. I am not sure what it is, but I flushed almost all of it down the toilet.

No fun Walker, it’s one of the worst stds, oh, are you talking about the saltwater algae? Did it look like a fern leaf? I had two boughts with it and used Reef Flux. Started working in 2-3 days, easy peasy. No, harm to anything in the tank.

thought I had dinos for a minute but I think its just cyano, diatoms and a mat algae in my sand all at once. started GFO/carbon mixed through a reactor, vacuuming sand through the filter sock before I swap it and pulled the top muck of sand out and rinsed it, soaked it in peroxide, rinsed it with tap water really well then a quick salt water rinse and put it back in the tank. looks good for hopefully more then a day, got the PO4 from .4 to .1 the last couple weeks, my nitrates were 0 forever, finally at like 1-2.

It definitely doesn't look like that. It looks more like GHA, but at the very end of each strand it looks like a few 'branches' coming off. It's too hard to get a picture, but I'll try.

Here are some microscope images, the first was alage and probably some detritus pulled from my Duncan skeleton, and second was one of the long strands I was talking about. I'll also post these in an alage identifying thread.

I was reading @JoJosReef macroalgae in his nano thread, and he mentioned something about dinos not growing on his TBS sand and I realized that any algae growth (besides bubble algae) in my tank, has only been on my glass. I have had very little if any algae growth on my rock and sand, which really shows the power of bacteria. My thought is that bacteria will take up space on the rock and sand and prevent algae growth on the rock. I think in my new tank, I will dose bacteria regularly in the beginning to make sure beneficial bacteria are all over my rock, to hopefully prevent any algae from growing. I don't know, I guess I will experiment with it

Wow, you hung the lights and finished the tiles all in one day. I haven’t gotten out of my recliner since this morning. Looks great!
