Very worried. Algae will not stop. My LFS hasn't given me an update on the hare either, last resort time! Gonna ask my mom to go to the bank and put in money to my Venmo so I can just order it myself. Probably from saltybottomreef. Do you think a tux urchin and sea hare will live the trip?

John Doe is a very nice young man. I have received live shipments all winter and no problems. They package well and base it on the weather, I’m sure my winters are much more brutal than yours.

I pull the rocks with long hair algae and scrub the hair algae off with a toothbrush (not my wifes ;)) in a 5 gallon bucket with enough saltwater to submerse it. Just got done doing 2 rocks, should have done before and after pics this afternoon. Works better then any of my CuC do on the long stuff and its free but annoying.

They should package to survive the trip or not ship, but have never ordered from saltybottomreef.

Done that 3 times on 4 rocks. I really need to scrub two of my rocks but one of them has a coral and the other im afraid if I take it off it'll cause turmoil with structure

Whenever I do something like that I get anxious and overthink. Will I get it back on? What if I crack a seam? What if I can't get the rock structure back to normal etc. what should I do about my heavily infested GHA rock it's got a toadstool on it

1st gen are the ones I have, the gen 2 that came out a few weeks ago cost twice as much

Sadly the only lights I have are an R24 that has the blue diodes dying and an extremely old orbit marine that’s only 24”. I don’t think either would help out like you need :(

I truly did everything I could to save my partner but it was his time. I have really focused on the tank since this has happened and it keeps me going.

Its not fun but its effective. For the rock with coral when I do my water change I clean it carefully in the old water.

If the rock can't be removed cause of coral or upsetting the structure then I brush it in the tank the night before, or a couple hours before, my filter sock is due to be changed out. Makes a mess for a while but it clears up, I also turkey baste the rocks really good in the tank after scrubbing.

I have also been fighting the hair algae battle cause I had 0 nitrates and dosed them which caused an explosion. Been trying to scrub rocks in the tank every night, blow them off with the baster, and then change the filter sock every AM the last couple weeks and I am starting to win, the CuC is going back to work.

edit: it also does not take much pressure to brush it off

So sorry about your partner, I can’t imagine the pain it has caused you. I’m not on Facebook just instagram, a couple of us on here follow each other there. I was going through your tank thread and a lot of us were there with you from the beginning even our dear friend @ESABOE ( Jennifer who passed away this summer). Most of us go by first name and I think it’s obvious, I’m Kevin.
