What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I agree, I’m not doing much different than when I started in the mid nineties.
You agree with Joel's approach as well? It just blows my mind because the new fancy reefing and old school reefing are so different yet still the same and obviously both can work but the new ways way more complicated and in depth... and I'm just here like "I like sticks..."

I also thought about buying some live sand? I mean my sand has some bacteria but I'm after diversity right?
You can have my rock and sand in my biocube next time you drive down to Portland. I’m slowly transferring out my fish to the 112. The cube was started with all natural sea water 2 years ago. So all that bacteria is in there. the 112 was started with TBS live ocean rock.

I wonder if I didn’t have a lot of these issues because I kick started my first tank with real sea water? Anyone else think using a few of these would make a difference?

About 5 years ago I used this extensively for about 6 months until they stopped carrying it in our store.
I can't tell you if it really made a difference but I did have more green algae and the water overall was just fine.

How much you want for it?

You can have it free. When I get the fish out I really don’t need it. It was caribsea. I’m guess total of 40lbs and maybe 30lbs of sand. The rock has GHA on it though that I have but been tanking to lately. So phosphates are climbing.

I can't grow gha because I grow cyano :grinning-face-with-sweat: i actually noticed one spot the size of a oreo of GHA that I purposefully left when I scrubbed my rocks because I wanted something to compete with the cyano lol.

Dude that's awesome. I can't believe you'd be so generous! That would be amazing!

My plan is to decommission the 32 entirely. Just never planned a timeline.

Actually you can thank me, it took ALOt of arm twisting to convince him to come to this thread. He actually said he didn’t want to be in a thread that allowed me to be part of it. Tim actually convinced him that I was the only weirdo and everyone else was great.

Well i can talk to the wife. I'm not really able to figure out when I'll be there for work but we are known to go down to check out LFS like corals unlimited and easy aquariums. If my corals are still doing well and it's time to maybe get some more i could plan a trip in the coming few weeks or whenever works for you?

Tim and I had the same talk. Pretty sure that's par for the course. He kinda underplayed it a little bit though

Actually it was Tim that informed me how to get to this thread since he was educated beyond public school :zany-face:

Yeah, I’m just leaving everything the way it is. The fish keep the cycle going. Plus it’s pretty cold to do anything right now. If you get stuck though you can have it. I think your tank just needs some maturity.

Yea I'm not excited about the next few days temps... i gotta work outside.

Didn't you get a fancy thingy for your phone and you throw this picture out there? :zany-face:
Don't know if you can tell or not but that clown's fin is hanging out of the water. They're directly under the light and she thinks I'm feeding her whenever I open the door to the sump so she rarely stays still for a picture. I was lucky I got that one! Tons of glare, lots of water movement, and long distance zoomed in. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

The basement monster wants food! Don't let it see you! :face-with-tears-of-joy:
