Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Is that different than a "sand shifting sea star"? Because I heard they usually start if it's not a mature sanded and I started with dry everything so there's not a lot for it to eat
Unless you are planning on feeding that one meat regularly don't get one of those Mike it'll just die on you.

I mean that one but I'm not good with names lol, in my case I set up this tank with new sand and there it is, but I bought another one and it died on me
Hmmm i wonder if i could just drop a chunk of food into the sand everyday bed to supplement?? I am picking up 10lbs of established live rock on Sunday too

Yes Luis thanks for asking.
School was closed today so busier than usual.
How was your day?
Normal day I would say, I got home around 5pm, but not too complicated, we set up a heat pump in an apartment and then checked some ice machines and some coolers and then grab some Heineken and home

That's kind of what I thought

I want one of the sicce utility pumps but don't want to spend 100$ on it... might actually use the one I was gonna sell but seems a waste as it's such a big DC pump with a controller (maxpect jump 10k)
when I had the octopus, I wanted to do the water change as fast as possible. but in reality, the suction you are creating at higher speeds might cause stuck fish etc...and when you reverse it, you blow sand everywhere. Scooping with a pitcher made less of a mess for me later. 1/2 gallon at a time. I do have a siphon but that made a mess. would siphon into an empty jug to a measurement then dump the jug of corresponding fresh back in. mess. but if you are mixing in a brute, a utility pump is easiest. I mix in water jugs that have spouts. just the easier thing for me.

I have a 55g food grade barrel that I mix in that's setup in the basement right beside my sump. I don't really measure how much I'm changing as of yet. I just go until my return pump spits some bubbles and that's around 20-25 gallons. Now that I have corals though I might be more precise

They have a tendency to starve. I had one a couple of decades ago in an established tank and after a few months it withered away.

mark on your tank where a certain amount of water is. I did that for 10 gallons. so I'd just elevate the returns out of water then turn the pump off. once the overage went back to the sump, I would drain the tank to that level then back up to there. You might want to fit your barrel with a drain spigot at the bottom and raise the barrel like 2 feet off the floor. then you could easily mix in it then drain into smaller containers/jugs. then you just need to heat the water later etc...it's easier for precise when you have 10 gallons of water measured then can add the same salt right to the jugs. only slight tweaking for SG. since my tank is under a balcony, I was going to mix upstairs and use gravity with a hose and spigot lower but takes longer just to do it all even though it's simpler.

This has been going on for almost three hours since my daughter dropped her dog off since her and her fiancé are going to New York skiing for the weekend.

mine are in my garage unfortunately. not sure if they will make the cold. I did not want to spray them for bugs from this summer being outside. Don't remember what they all were but know one of them was a red one.
