Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Yeah I'm thinking of that Luis good call.
Upping nitrate will definitely help but the overfeeding isn't working.
There's also about 60 pounds of rock in there.
Thinking of maybe taking some out, putting it in the big tank??
Do you do water changes Joel?

The tank has always had some high nutrients but I would like to lower it below 1, maybe 0.8 to be more comfortable. So you recommend me to buy the same bags that I buy but instead of putting them directly in the tank, I mix them and put them in this thing
Maybe start with more frequent filter media changes. Filter pad floss etc. Whatever you do Luis, do it slow brother

Also, since we're on the topic of phosphates, mine are undetectable. I think this is what has killed my acan, and now my hammer is starting to close too. Anyone got any idea on how to raise it? Nitrates are in the 10-20 range.
Spot feed anything that'll take it, until you can raise them. Maybe broadcast feed a little more?

If it makes you feel better, I started with live rock and “live “ sand and I got cyano but never got dinos but my phosphate has been.25 and nitrate 25 for ever.
Just comes back soooo thick. I blast my corals daily with a turkey baster to keep the cyano from choking them out...

Pellets and flake have a lot more phosphates than frozen for starters

i got some of the 10 hole sand displays, a couple of the small tree sand displays and the anemone magnet one( because it looks so neat!)
I got two of the sand bed trees, they're awesome. I haven't figured out what to do with them yet though lol

Good news!! I was about ready to come to the conclusion that my firefish was dead, but I saw a flash of red where he hides! It came out and then quickly darted right back in, but as of now, he's alive!!

Yeah I did my first one today in months.
Don't remember the last time I did one.
Man something is devouring your n03 with little to no water changes? Sounds like your rocks are definitely doing their job my friend.

so I ordered replacement filters and an extra resin. You can see my resin needs to be replaced. Do you think I should just change the resin and change the other filters next time? They do not look dirty. that was my plan. I'm getting 0 TDS still. Measured with both the BRS meter and a hand held one. I use the hand held one because the tap water shows around 40 with the hand held meter. The in on the BRS meter says 6 and out says 0. I have been changing it as soon as it hits 1 but will use that water for the humidifiers. I do back flush the line for a few minutes before and after use. I run the system right at 78 PSI.

Man do I wish I had your water. My tap water runs 700+ TDS most of the year 400 or so when I'm really lucky and often as high as 965 or so. I go through DI resin pretty quickly as the water hitting the DI chamber AFTER the membrane is usually around 20 TDS. Do you know what the TDS is going to your membrane? It would seem that with your tap water TDS most of your system should go a long time between filter changes. I usually change all of my filters at once and the membrane when I see the tap water input to membrane out percentage rejection go below 95% or around 45 TDS usually. The others get changed when I see the DI cartridge above 75% depleted or if it hits 1ppm on the output if I don't notice the depletion, it has happened.

And I thought mine was high, wow 900 is too much

I don't know. I've only measured the tap water and where ever BRS set up the in and out on their meter. I'm assuming that's coming from tap right? It's the value plus 150 4 stage. I just checked and measures 98 right now from a different faucet.
