Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
1.4 :upside-down-face:
Well...
Your tank looks wonderful!
As long as gha isn't crazy and corals are happy I wouldn't touch a thing honestly.
If you want to try to lower phos I'd get a sicce syncra 1.5, some rowaphos and some carbon.
Mix rowa and carbon together and run, make sure it not tumbling.
Only tumble if it's just gfo.
But start super super small amounts.

The tank has always had some high nutrients but I would like to lower it below 1, maybe 0.8 to be more comfortable. So you recommend me to buy the same bags that I buy but instead of putting them directly in the tank, I mix them and put them in this thing

To increase No3? Feed heavy for a couple of days or talk to Tim, he is been dosing No3 with good results
I haven't. I started dosing Ammonium Chloride which I didn't realize drops NO3.

Oh sorry, I thought I read that you were dosing No3 and Po4

I'm not sure what you have been buying.
Can you show me?

I was dosing PO4. Started dosing Ammonium Chloride thinking it would help my NO3 but it drops them for some reason...

Ok.
Chemi blue stays in the bag and won't go in this reactor.
Buy some bulk good carbon.
Get a bowl.
Put 2 tablespoons of rowa in the bowl and one cup of carbon.
Mix well.
Put it in the reactor.
Put the plate of the reactor down against your concoction.
If it won't move, put some pad, whatever in so your concoction won't move.
Hook up your pump.
Take your output tube and put it in a bucket, whatever outside the sump.
Turn on your pump until water runs clear.
You're all set.
You can run this full blast don't tumble.
The gfo will grind the carbon to bits.
Test daily and see where you are at.
As soon as phos stops reducing the gfo is saturated and you'll need more.
However, don't overdo it.
You want to go slow.

Meet one eyed Sid!

Yes, he's missing an eye. Not sure how, but he was like that when I got him. I heard they could grow back??

Also, since we're on the topic of phosphates, mine are undetectable. I think this is what has killed my acan, and now my hammer is starting to close too. Anyone got any idea on how to raise it? Nitrates are in the 10-20 range.

Good news!! I was about ready to come to the conclusion that my firefish was dead, but I saw a flash of red where he hides! It came out and then quickly darted right back in, but as of now, he's alive!!

That's great!!!

I've been doing that, unfortunately it

Comes right back and ny sand beds super clean as far as detritis. I know my nutrient levels aren't super high, or at least 4 or 5 days ago they weren't. Just irritating that it's coming back with such a vengeance and I'm constantly cleaning it off everything. My first tank 8 years ago was live everything and never had a bit of cyano ever :face-with-rolling-eyes: stupid BRS insisting I use dry everything while I was building my tank lol
If it makes you feel better, I started with live rock and “live “ sand and I got cyano but never got dinos but my phosphate has been.25 and nitrate 25 for ever.

Probably products to add but best way I know of is with food.
