Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Cod is one of my favorite fish. They occur nowhere near me, but do I ever wish they did.
I really enjoy cod fishing. haven't been in 16 years though. Usually pull in 15-20 pounders.

of course I only had Kraft Mac-n-Cheese for lunch. Our Chinese place is closed Mondays. it's also crazy snowing right now! Seems all the snow comes late now. Not much before New Years. I remember growing up and having snow and sled riding on Thanksgiving. Now we're lucky to get snow in January even!

Your bird feeder pole is crooked.

Advantages of living in Miami lol, I found a place that passes the water through different filters and UV, Alk 8.0, Ca 400,
Mg 1400, No3 2, Po4 0, and I'm thinking about it lol, but at the same time there's the fear that it will be contaminated someday
depends on the contamination. I mean everything is getting contaminated. some things need to adapt to environmental change.

Idk man, I'd be leary of that. I get it, it's tempting. I love about half a mile from the Gulf. Idk man, there's a lot of garbage out there. You know your tank though brother. I'd be interested to see how this works out, if you do it.

I used seawater for a long time in the biocube, but I don't collect it lol, that's sold by an lfs

I am only at my 2nd blue bucket but not so much detritus on mine.
It's not detritus, it's more like a little cloudiness. I heard somewhere that they were testing a new type of bacteria in the salt, but I don't know if it's real.

I can easily grab water here myself but afraid of how many "new" things I might find. At least it's thawed again. But have been looking at waterfront for a while. too many places are all re-do's from the blog storms last winter. Need to be like 15 feet above to prevent the next king tide storm and get insurance with the new revised flood charts.

Anyone here who uses Red Sea Blue Bucket is noticing a lot of residue in the salt? I haven't liked it at all the last two times I've done a water change. I think I'll go back to seawater.
Yes Luis I mentioned that a couple of weeks ago.
I'm not happy either.
I went back to regular IO purple bucket.
Try that Luis.
I'm experimenting with Reef Crystals too but it's not as clean as IO.

Couldn't agree more John!
RO and mixing my own saltwater definitely keeps everything in my hands, where it should be.

I noticed that too, with the black bucket. So far I'm liking IO, though I've only done one waterchange so far.

I totally get what you're saying. When we took Hurricane Katrina to the face in 05, everything changed. Fema came in and set up a bunch of ridiculous regulations and totally changed the landscape of insurance down here forever.
