Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Yes my friend I've tried everything.
Everything.
Everything I try just makes it worse.
Finally, I gave up and I have a great collection going on from giant ones to little ones, etc.
It goes on and on.
I ordered 6 and Jeff emailed me instructions, cautions and suggestions.
Great customer service so I ordered 4 more since shipping is so expensive.
Hopefully this will help cuz the tank is just over run with them.
That is so frustrating. But I believe it is a battle you can win. And I think this may be your way

I wouldn't want to leave it in the tank, but i figure it won't contaminate the tank much in the time it takes to scrape the glass. I ought to order some of those arm length gloves since when I use this most of my arm is in the water.
Is it working pretty well? I'm more than likely going to need something like this too, believe it or not lol

I haven't. I've been fortunate and not had an outbreak. When I saw one in the past, I used a syringe, attached a needle and stabbed them... filling them up with peroxide. Worked like a charm and reef safe! Have to be quick though when stabbing them, they are quick to retract. I've also just super glued over a couple that I've seen.
Peroxide? Interesting, that is the one thing I haven't tried. I had one and I blasted it with boiling water. Now I have a beautiful aiptasia garden there!!

Understand, I have the Vampires in Drag directly under a Kessil. They are about 6" from the surface and they stretch like that too and I know they are getting PLENTY of PAR.
Those are gorgeous zoas! I'm thinking zoas may be where I take my focus next. I'd also really love to finally have some long term success with gonis

You can also use vinegar, again, completely reef safe!

Low PAR... say 75-120ish range, low to moderate flow. You want the tentacles to move gently, not be whipped around. Lastly, they like some sort of extra food, like reef roids or dose phyto.

Ok, ok, was in the mood for chill. The trick is using one packet of chili hot sauce for a small and two for a large. Perfect heat.

nothing wrong with that!!
some of my plates arent looking the best. ive noticed that some people have them on stands partway up the tank. maybe mine arent getting enough light. anyone have advice? @VintageReefer ?

You have a picture Jill? Plates can and will move, that is why people place them on the sandbed. Plates prefer a moderate PAR... say 150-250 range is appropriate. Do you have sandbed or bare bottom?

ive got a sandbed. i cant attach pics anymore. i guess something is going on with the site. idk. i have them on a stand to keep them up off the sand a bit, but in a shaded area. just wondering if thats the problem...

My wife said no to a used old new truck so I ordered some nudis from Reeftown instead
Seemed like a good trade, right?
I'm a little nervous with the trigger getting curious but I guess they taste terrible 💩
So we'll see I'll keep you updated.
I got my nudis from Reeftown as well. Great customer service and the nudis went right to work. I now spot maybe one new Aiptasia a week and it is gone in a few days. I was surprised that they even went after one on a frag rack half way up the back wall.

I did the exact same thing. Ordered 6, saw the shipping and changed it to ten. They have worked out great in my 100 gallon.

I'm not a proponent of peroxide for Aiptasia. It seems to kill them but mine always came back eventually. Only things I've ever used beside Peppermint Shrimp or Berghia Nudibranchs that actually worked were epoxy or F-Aiptasia and they only work if you can really get the Aiptasia to close up and completely engulf it. Most cures kill the one but it spreads spores or whatever they are and it just makes it worse. Underwater Whack-A-Mole.

They need light, 150-250 PAR, so a moderate light requirement. They aren't a low par coral like say ... blastos and cyphastrea.

I corrected my previous post to reflect the PAR. I'm at work and my brain was not fully engaged in what I was typing.
