Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Afternoon all, I hope yall had a good day! I tested the cord of the uv sterilizer, and it's working! So I didn't break it! However, that means the uv sterilizer is broken. I've ordered another one and it should come tomorrow, and I guess I'll have to see if I can get refunded for the broken one.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but I'm intrigued. At the last frag swap, one of the vendors I bought from put styrofoam on the frag plug and put the torch in upside down to keep it from banging around in the cup. My last shipment came with these little plastic cups the frag sat in to protect them.
George Mavrakis is the YouTuber I'm referring to. He used to call his channel Coralfish12g. The kids and I used to watch his videos regularly, but stopped during COVID. It annoyed me that he was still aparrently jetting all over the world making videos while your average Joe was stuck at home.

An old man's thoughts on magnesium....
My two favorite salts ever were seachem reef salt and kent marine.
Both super high in calcium, magnesium and crud of all kinds.
Took forever to mix but I had coraline everywhere and never had to dose anything.
Fast forward and neither are made today, reef crystals being the closest in parameters IMO.
Since starting to use it coraline has gone crazy so there is something to be said for higher magnesium.
There just is.
My tank looks like cr9p compared to y'all but I've never had an issue keeping any fish, weird, exotic or whatever.
As far as corals go,I can get away using rock salt and be fine.
As far as testing, salifert is the ONLY one worth a cr9p and it tests pretty close from all my years of experience and wasted money on magnesium testing kits.
IMO.
@tharbin mentioned something about higher magnesium and it's effect on nuisance algae so I thought I'd add an extra 1/4 cup per week and low and behold, green algae is starting to grow out competing this brown I can't get rid of.
Thanks Tom!!
Anyways, my. 03 cents, if it matters.

He does have some interesting videos, but also sensationalizes some stuff to get clicks

Yep, last sentence. They're little plastic cups for frags

I agree with everything but the part about your tank looking like cr4p!!

That was more like $.04, thanks Joel.

Saw the first hummingbird at one of the feeders today. I think they came back later than usual because winter stayed longer than usual.
