What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Thanks, I’ll definitely microwave the soil when I get home, not sure weather it will be cool enough to put them in tonight. My wife is going to think I’m crazy!
Kevin, I have a feeling this won't even phase her my friend. She has put up with you for this long. I'm sure nothing surprises her now! :face-with-tears-of-joy: :zany-face:

thanks luis. i honestly dont know. never tried my hand at this before. i baked the soil as recommended. but they never seemed to eat the bread and now it stinks pretty bad and is getting moldy.
i am in contact with the seller so hopefully i can figure something out. @JoJosReef do have any nuggets of advice?
My aren't eating bread either. Try something smelly, like fish pellets or flakes. Mine devoured yeast flakes and Greek yogurt.

So sorry about these troubles. I'm no expert on these worms, but the culture shouldn't smell bad. How many days are you going between changing the food? I put the food on a double layer of embroidery plastic mesh (two cutout pieces at about 1" x 2"). When I change food, I just lift the top cutout off, which avoids lifting out a bunch of dirt and also preventing the food from making too much contact with the dirt (the food that gets between the mesh gets eaten). Not perfect, but might be keeping some of the fuzzies out of the culture.

Try changing brand of bread. They like the white parts more than the crust.

My culture is having a slow bounce-back from a botched restart. Hope yours does better!

For all you white worm gurus, I read to bake the soil for an hour to sanitize it from fungus, nat eggs etc. did you do it? If you did is it OK to leave the worms in while it bakes? :winking-face:
I didn't Kevin, I just make sure to pull any food leftover after a couple days. You could use coconut coir as your media. It is non nutritious in nature, but it can also become contaminated over time too. This is definitely a learning experience we're all undertaking here.

Have you spread yogurt and yeast flakes on the bread and flipped it upside down on the soil yet Walker?

+1 on this. Try putting Greek yogurt and nutritional on your bread @smitten with ocean life

no @kingranch2003 absolutely no additions except for the cbb and hes never around them. no changes to lights either
and i think my worm culture is crashing!:'( man what next!!
Sorry Jill, we have to figure this out. If you think your culture is sour or foul, I wouldn't add any to the tank. I'd love to see your numbers right now in comparison to some older ones (sorry for this request, but it'll help). Are you running carbon? I

The Meridian 24 will be plenty. I picked up the 35 for my 48"x24" tank.
Awesome Keith! For the price, the technology is there for sure. I love my radion xr15 big time, but I'm interested in trying this one on the new build.

Brunch! Just need an IPA to wash that down brother.
So true! Im just afraid if I start drinking this early, I'll be in jail by dark lol

Definitely remove that bread. I change mine every couple of days, if you used soil and not coir, I'd stop feeding for a couple days. Let them consume as much as they can from your media.

She already does buddy. :)

yep thats what ive got. wheat bread smeared with whole plain greek yourt and sprinkled with fish flakes.
Sounds like something maybe been wrong with this culture from the start. Did it smell foul when it arrived? If there were a lot of dead worms in there, the rest of the colony may be on its way down. They should be devouring that.

How good was part 2 of the space adventure!? I wish the season had been longer
I loed the first one but the second one was even better. They even included an Easter egg with the space shuttle from the Next Generation on the shelf with all the memorabilia.

I remember the memorabilia and the comics! I felt sick to my stomach when they destroyed them lol.
