Yes.
High salinity is fine as long as it's consistent Jill.
Salinity swings, up or down can cause issues too.

I don't want to rush you into anything here, Joel, but this is my humble opinion. At the same time I think consistency is key, and if you've been doing this for years, why change something that isn't broken? But in my humble opinion if that salinity test is correct, for me (a nobody) it is too high

ok @kingranch2003 here are my numbers. sorry it took so long for me to get them for you. i kept forgetting. my acans were so big and happy before and now just look like they are melting away. i did figure out my alk doser tube had come out of the water so it wasnt getting the alk dosed. i dont know if thats what did it or not!

Here are my thoughts. And they are just my thoughts and how I'd approach it. 1.028 can definitely work especially if it's stable and it keeps your other parameters where you want them. Like Joel said, the salt mixes out into your parameters. With that being said, I'd say that 1.028 could be a bit too high if that's not your normal range. It would be worse if your salinity is usually lower and then now it has spiked, that could have an effect. My salinity is always 99.9% 1.027. If you're dosing anyway, you could afford to lower the salinity. Alk is a bit high, but not as detrimental if this is what you usually run, like I said about the salt level. My alk is 8.8-9.2. Did you test a drop in alk when the dose was out of the water? It’s 9.3 right now. Nutrient levels aren't your problem either.

Crept up, or shot up overnight? If it was a slow rise, I wouldn't say this is the problem.

Agreed and well said John.
Salinity, IMO is only a real issue if it suddenly changes drastically or goes up and down regularly.
Things don't like that.

i would say slowly crept up. its been that for awhile. i guess i thought the alk should be around 10. thats what i ahve the doser set at. i can lower it. yeah i think it dropped from 9 ish into the 6s before i figured it out. do you think i can save them?:'(
