your garden interests me wes. ive been thinking of trying raised beds this year. but we have lots of bales. did you just dig some out and fill it with potting soil?

Chris Stapleton is a great musician.
I don't really consider him country, just like Keith Urban who is a great musician and they consider him country but I consider him good music.
I listen to a LOT of different music.

I missed everyone today, and haven't caught up yet. I was busy with Big John the slugger here. He had a set of double elimination games tonight and brought home the hardware!

Yes, where the seedlings are. For seeds you put a layer of potting soil on top and plant seeds in that. You have to activate/rot the bales first though. You spend 10 days rinsing nitrogen fertilizer into the bales, and two days rinsing a balanced fertilizer into the bales before planting. The inside of the bale rots and gets warm, between the nutrients released by the rotting straw and the fertilizer the plants get what they need. Last year my eldest daughter wanted a garden pretty bad. The soil here is pure clay, so I decided to try a small straw bale garden (again). This time it was pretty successful, so I went from 12 bales last year to 30 bales this year, but when I went to buy the bales, the farmer was looking to get rid of t hem so he gave me 40 instead of 30.

I think everyone here is pretty open to whatever you post. It might not be their favorite, but they won't have a problem with you posting what you like. There's a lot of people here, so they're going to have divergent tastes. Doesn't mean we have to be judgemental about it.
