Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
lol all good, I might not run it since Ozone can harm the lungs.
Camden,

I used ozone a very long time ago. I introduced it to the tank through an in-tank counter-current skimmer (state of the art at the time). It works well but there are some precautions with it. You really should be monitoring your ORP if you use it so that you don't overdose it as it is a very strong oxidant. It is also best to have a charcoal filter or direct vent as you don't want ozone building up in the room. I'd advise against using it without a real need for it.

catching you before you head out. Have a great weekend @kevgib67 remember it's a dual celebration that you are able to share their experience with them. best to you all.

I may be distracted by celebrating John’s birthday tomorrow though.

no reefing between vows! leave the phone off and home. and a ring goes in the box, not a birds nest!
You have some pretty messed up priorities my friend! Camden, Parker and Xunhe ignore this man, he is cray cray!

People have been running ozone since the 70's Camden so it's not a new idea.
It will not harm you as long as you use it properly with good, new equipment and lines but in your case, I wouldn't find it necessary to use.
It provides extreme water clarity and aeration but it's not something to use unless you are extremely up on how to use it and it's really unnecessary for most of us.
The generators are also expensive.
I'd rather see you put your money into lighting.
It's extremely hard on the plastic lines it uses and I've seen it wreck a few skimmers over the years.
I don't think you should spend any money going this route, but if you do, I'm here to help you.

If it were me, I'd focus on basic husbandry first. Sure, Ozone has its benefits, but it won't miraculously "fix" a tank. Also, it isn't simply buying a generator. There are many components to an Ozone set up. One of the most important is to ACCURATELY monitor ORP lest you risk wiping your tank out. Ozone is just a tool, the same as using UV. There are SO many successful, beautiful reef tanks that run without them. There are even many reef tanks that don't use a skimmer or sump.
I would focus more on keeping a weekly journal of your parameters.
Doing a weekly water change. This is probably one of the best things you can do at the moment.
Not adding any corals/fish/inverts to your tank until you can get it stabilized.
I'm not trying to sound harsh, but in reality, one can keep a reef tank without all the fancy gadgets.

It's better this way and so we can enjoy and learn from different points of view, whether you guys agree or not in the topic ;)

and you won't share? :crying-face:
We always share! There's only four of us. Why do you think we have five? We've had six or seven at some points along the way. We always try to bring someone or some buddies with us.

it was you "only" have five. like there's not enough. my bad.

I can see it now. When the officiant asks if anyone has anything to say.... Kevin: Can we wrap this up? I have a water change scheduled.

Joel and I both agree that his money should be spent elsewhere and Ozone/UV is not needed.

We have four even though it's just the two of us. That way we can have friends go kayaking with us.
