Does the compressor run for a few minutes and then shut off, or does it just force itself to start and fail?

In any case, check to see if the condenser fan has a capacitor and measure it. If you can, check the compressor capacitor as well.

Still sleeping. I didn't get home from work yesterday until almost 10. I stayed late meeting with my Superintendent and then we Supervisor we promoted to help me out, then went to the Chosen at church straight from there, then had Ice Cream sundaes after the Chosen, then went and climbed on a friend's roof to try to help troubleshoot his A/C.

Mine has both. It has a 3 number capacitor but then I had to replace the condenser fan motor and it went from a 15 to a 10.

Oh it's not done yet, that comes today after I get off work. I was hoping it was something simple like dirty condenser coils but I'm leaning more towards capacitor failure.

His condenser fan motor is about 2 years old.

The compressor capacitor is fine, what happens is that it is shutting down due to high pressure because the fan is not working, you need to check the fan capacitor or if you have a spare one, change it and we will know if it is fixed or if it is the motor that is bad, that capacitor should be 7.5 mf

I didn't open the unit up yesterday. He was going to climb up there this morning and get a picture of it to go to Ace and make sure they have it in stock.

Remove the power to the unit so that the compressor is not damaged. On the fan motor sticker you can also see which capacitor it need
