Good morning, all you Smorgs!
Been a little bit absent the past several days. That filthy thing called work has demanded way more time than I care to mention. Another busy weekend planned and then have to jump back into the car to head to the other side of the state Sunday night. Why? See that dirty word above.
Stereos: my dad bought a new system the year he and my mom got married, 1956. It consisted of an H.H. Scott amp, (sorry as I cannot recall the model number) a Garrard 301 turntable and JBL
Hartsfield speakers. Through the years there were any number of tubes that needed replacing, parts replaced on the turntable and NOTHING done to the speakers. My dad died in 2021 and used the system, on the regular, until about a year before his death. We moved my mom to Texas, last year, and it pains me to disclose that one of my older sisters got rid of the system before I had a chance to tell her not to. And by “got rid of”, I mean it all went into a dumpster. Broke my heart. Still causes foul thinking now.
Back in 1990, I bought a complete McIntosh system. I had that until I lost it in a poker game in 2010. After that, bought Harmon Kardon system which I had until moving here, to Florida, 4 years ago. What I have now isn’t worth mentioning but it gets the job done.
