Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
my mag is running around 1290 and cal 350. thoughts? and rock i think my guardian keeps the alk at 8
I occasionally have to dose my calcium up to 420-430 bu far more often I have to dose my magnesium up, I try to keep it at 1400 or a little higher. I test before a water change and dose it directly into the new water I made and let the power head mix it before I add it to the tank.

not to butt in, but mag and cal is low. I use this as a base line to what wre i need to be. It is BRS but I feel that this is what they would want theirs at.

I use this exact same chart as a baseline for my tanks!

I personally would increase my AFR if both Ca and Mg are low and let Alk go a little higher. TM does recommend to add Ca or Mg as needed, although they obviously recommend using their Balling additives to get there. Your Mg is high enough although I prefer closer to 1400 but you should definitely bring the Ca up either by increasing AFR or dosing Ca.

If your AFR dosing is controlled by your Guardian, maybe bump its setting up a little to say 8.5 to increase dosages and see where things settle in.

easy enough. i bumped up the all for reef. i have liquid cal i can dose to if i need to
I've used Fritz RPM Liquid Magnesium and Brightwells Magnesium and they seem to both work well. I hand dose Mg and a little Mn about once a week in addition to AFR, I did the same when I used ATI Essentials Pro 2-Part.

I use BRS magnesium mix for 2 part maintenance, the gallon mix for me last a LONG time ($16.99)

edit: wrong quote, but its about what mag mix

I might seem OCD but in all reality I strive for consistency. My tank has matured, but I stick to my water changes and regular maintenance to the tank. I will say that I have not vacuumed my sand in about 7 months. My diamond goby keeps it moving around

consistency is key, I've never vacuumed my sand
