And to think I was going to suggest a flamethrower.

This should work but be careful with it as the sponge will start to rot. If it is easy to get the sponge out, pull it and scrape it as much as you can and pull it every time it starts to look funky and scrape it more. A rotting sponge can easily foul a tank.

And a rotting person can easily foul a crawl space. Or so I have read.

Exposure to air for a minute or two?

I’ve tried that . What I’ve been doing is replacing the rock from time to time and even blew a air stone in the tank through the power heads for days . The thing is is that it’s goes away for a while and I find it creeping some where else . A rock or the glass . Is there something I can treat it for something else that might kill it . Been dealing with this for about a year and tired of constant looking to see if it’s somewhere . Hard when it get into the glass or into the stone as it will take out the coral when it’s takes over . I just hate the idea to rehouse the fish and coral to break down the main tank . There is no guaranty that the spores could be in the coral that I have .

thank you for this list. I personally never use any aluminum. I do have large copper pots but it has silver soldering.

I also never use aluminum for cooking, maybe a piece of foil here and there.
Cast iron, stainless steel made in the USA only at home.
Restaurant is a different story, aluminum is everywhere but I try at all times to use stainless steel.
Almost all of my restaurant cookware is used anyways.

I never let it get that far with out getting it out as soon as I see it . It will kill coral . Was just hoping there was a medication or something used for something else that might kill it . potassium permanganate or some type of oxidation chemical . Not sure if it’s reef safe

Sorry if I missed it but have you tried Chemiclean? Mind you, I'm not a huge fan of it but people have had success with it.

Chemiclean . No I haven’t . For black sponge ? . I could try it , can’t hurt .

I think it depends on the type of sponge. Black Liver Sponge is different and not a bad sponge

Not sure if it’s liver sponge , when I initially got this it took out a couple of expensive coral . Not sure it’s one that’s all that good for the tank . Now I make sure when it comes back to get it out before it become a problem . I just hate always looking for it and the removing it .
