What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?

Good day, good people

Woke up feeling under the weather this morning. Nothing major, that's why im just now showing up
Good afternoon John, sorry to hear, I hope you’re feeling better.

By "shot lunch" I assume you went out and shot the cow that was used for the French Dip?
...that or a Frenchmen...

Back to the conversation with Mancini.
I saw a couple of his posts on here when someone would tag him about the Mancini holy grail. He usually jumps on to verify who has purchased one directly from him as he keeps a list of hobbyists and vendors.
He has a few single heads available that he recently cut. According to him, he only does this once a year and has a waiting list of buyers.
I was able to get a torch from him. Which I am ecstatic about to say the least. That's the one torch I've been trying to find and sifting through a lot of so called Mancini HGs that aren't true lineage. I know it seems fickle to some, but this is my, to coin a phrase...holy grail.
We have a FaceTime scheduled so I can pick which one I want and we will work out shipping after the holidays.
The only downside was the price tag, which is half of what other sellers are asking.
I will keep everyone posted!
Very interested in this. I know of him, and his torches. Not fickle at all, man. You deserve to get what you want. I know you do a lot of good for others, not all of it is public knowledge either.

@LadyMac Bev, the UV is on its way! Merry Christmas my dear!!
I wrote my last statement before I saw this. That's exactly why you deserve a crazy, unique, expensive torch

I bet you say that to all the guys.

Congrats Keith! I hope it turns out to be everything you think it will be, and more!

@That Crusso Kid Your mass response posts are highlights of my day. I have an emoji response in mind, but by time I get to the end of the message, Ive changed it to another one.

I have 0 Dendros sir. These are just generic Sun Corals (same family as Dendros, easier to keep alive supposedly).
The "nice " part still applies!

I always tell Alycia John Denver is not allowed to be played unless it's the fall season, or we are up in Gatlinburg. Just feels fitting to play him during those times.
Or, "I always tell Alycia, John Denver is not allowed to be played" Then stop the sentence there.

I've always been curious about this whole thing with coral names and exorbitant prices.

How does it actually work?
Do you become famous selling corals or whatever, and then one day, by chance, you find a rare coral at your local fish store and decide to give it your own name and set whatever price you want?

I'm genuinely asking out of complete ignorance because I don't know how it works.
Luis this is how I see it.

You can use these names to search for a certain coral that you want by the name.
It's easier to find results if you search for a Walt Disney acropora, than yellow, blue, pink, looking acropora.

I find that coral names are like the names we give our kids. They're good for when you want to refer to one of them or if you're trying to explain them to other people so they'll no what you're talking about, but in the end it's just their name. It's only a matter of whether you like it enough and can afford it. The price is all relative to the individual. Id bet a majority of the people across the world would call all of our tanks exorbitant. The price of the tank alone could be a month's salary for some people.

My family used to own land just east of Gatlinburg. Resort called Little Bit of Heaven and then Cobbly Nob. Yeah probably changed the name again. Spent lots of time fishing the trout pond and stream. Also drove my motorcycle all over the back roads. Hiked and pillaged the many candy stores downtown. Great memories! This was back in the 70's and I have never been back.
Did you do the tail of the dragon on the motorcycle?
I Hope Please GIF

These are the ones Francesco has for sale currently. He sent me this photo and it is without a filter. You can still see the insane coloration.

Yeah man ive never seen one with that much yellow and contrast. Great looking skeletons too. I am super excited for you man

I think I need new earbuds. I thought about what you and Rock said and remembered I used to like John Denver's voice but when I was listening to get a good version to post I found his voice irritating. I just went back and listened on speakers instead of my earbuds and voila.
Your ear buds weren't what was broken Tom. Lol im going to catch heck for this.

That's my point.
A famous name starts an endless pyramid scheme. I understand that exclusivity comes at a price, but if you bought it for $50, how does that price reach $1500?
I have no proof, but I also have no doubt that this does more harm than good to the hobby, and that's why many either never start or give up because anyone can change the name of a coral this days and make it inaccessible to many.
That.... is in no way what a pyramid scheme is brother. Some people drive Chevys, some people buy Lamborghinis. Both are available.

Well I’m ashamed, I’m not going to say what I paid for this one but a home equity loan was involved.

Worth a king's ransom Kevin. Amazing...
