Well I thought I would lift you up with my culinary skills but on a sadder note I think my diamond watchman goby is on its way out. My oldest son said it looks unusually thin, I took a closer look and its belly is sunk in and its eyes are slightly cloudy. It’s still sifting sand but I googled life span and it’s 4-5 years. I will have had him 4 years next month. Sorry, the only photo I could get at this time. Might look into a twin spot goby as a replacement, there’s a rumor that a coffee snob on here used to have one and liked it.
 
I use a pump because I have 7 canisters and dual membranes and the water does not have enough power to get through the system universally . But it’s is good . How ever I wouldn’t mind saving on the waste water . 🤑 We pay a about $100. Before our water bill because they tap into another city’s water . So if I run the two membranes separately could run with less waste water ??
You run the waste from the first to the feed of the second. The product water from each goes to the DI stages and the waste from the second membrane goes to waste. If you have automatic flush valves it is a little more complex. The video Thomas posted here actually shows it pretty well. Basically you are just reprocessing the waste from the first membrane to get more product water from the same amount of feed water which also improves throughput over a single membrane set up.

The setup is commonly called a Water Saver. Here is a video from BRS that shows how to install the second cartridge and explains it pretty well.

CB, I should add, I do not run a dual membrane setup because I have very high TDS feed water, typically 800+. The downside to a water saver setup is that the TDS to your DI stage will be slightly higher. My product TDS is already very high so I don't need to make it any worse.
