I too was going to try growing some stuff more vertical this year. looking to try growing watermelons.

We grow our cucumbers on lattice fence, which we stake in the ground vertically.

Hey, friends! Does anyone do raised bed gardening in here? I have a history of a black thumb with house plants, but I am going to try my hand at some raised gardening. Veggies, herbs, and maybe a strawberry plant. Any good fb groups or gardening forums that I should follow?

We have them but my husband does most of the work. Lol

That was how the week started.
Buying a car is great and all but I'm not putting it up there on my stress free list for sure.
Then Thursday my wife called.
She was at the vet.
Suddenly, our 14 year old morkie Charlie passed away .
He'd had Cushings disease for about a year and been pretty slow lately.
Evidently he had quite a few internal issues unknown to us.
Rest in peace my friend

I am very well taken care of and spoiled and not ashamed to say it. Lol I help on the weekends but most days during the week about everything is done by the time I get home from work. I do occasionally make a meal during the week that he just has to pop in the oven or that cooks in the crockpot. And I do let him know how amazing and appreciated he is and tell him he doesn't have to do so much but he insist he likes taking care of me and that it's his job and makes him happy.

Good morning Alycia, I do but I started way before fb groups and gardening groups and just do it the way I learned to do it.

You garden looks great! I've ordered some books to get me started. I'm trying not to rely fully on the internet, but I figured there may be some good resources out there.

We have done raised beds, hanging gardens, aquaponics, and now we're currently working on vertical gardening.

Our biggest fight with raised bed gardens is grass infestation. We've got some of the IBC totes we're going to eventually convert to raised bed with wicking instead of conventional raised bed on the ground.

A LOT of options. For vertical, look up Garden Tower or Green Stalk - great groups with good information (but very much focused on their own products so you have to sift).

Aquaponics is a really cool project for aquarists.

The beds I ordered are galvanized and on 4 legs, so I don't think I'll have a problem with grass infestation. I do worry a bit about how the drainage will work. I also looked into some vertical stuff, but it seemed expensive (at least the stuff I was looking at). Plus, another reason I wanted to start this is to hopefully get River involved as he gets older. I want him to be a kid playing in the dirt rather than on a phone, so maybe an actual bed will be good for when he starts helping me out!

I have expereinced a lot of issues with the site over the weekend and they continued today. Right now, it is absolutely horrendous. I have had nothing but problems with it. Yesterday and Saturday, when I logged on, were not much better. I have neither the time or inclination to sit around and wait for a website that causes a lot of frustration. Especially when I come here for some stress relief. I do hope whatever "upgrades" are rumored to being made happen sooner than later. However, I am not holding my breath as, over the years, I've heard it all before.

Rant over.

You're not wrong though. It's almost becoming unusable. There are R2R members from all over the world. It needs to be accessible at all hours.
