Yes as much as it was a pain to change nozzles on my Ender this type of problem was much easier. The quick change system just adds all kinds nooks and crannies that trap the PETG. I've already heat-soaked and peeled/pricked/pulled/cussed twice but it has hardly made a dent in the buildup.

That said it is a rare problem as I've only had one other failed print on the A1 and it was just spaghetti hardly any buildup on the nozzle. My wife wants me to just donate the A1 to the kid at St. Vincent de Paul that I gave the Ender to and buy another printer (what a great wife) but that isn't really feasible right now as I just replaced the garage door opener. Next time will have spaghetti detection and a decent camera. Probably an enclosed like a P1S or P2S so that I can rehome the Centauri Carbon as well. I don't think I'll be letting the A1 Mini go though as it is just a fun little printer.

Newest ones are the H2D, H2S, P2S, and now the H2C. I'd love to get the H2D but way out of 'guy-retired-on-social-security' range unless I actually figure out how to sell a bunch of junk (excess reefing gear, model trains, RC planes, maybe a few violins, non-essential body parts, etc.). Not doing FB and being anti-social and cynical put a crimp in it.

Have you tried a blow torch or one of the long-stemmed lighters? Sounds weird but some people will use a blow torch, that is turned way down, and blast the nozzle in bursts, moving side to side.


I do like the H2C's.
I was considering picking up a micro butane torch to try as I really just need to get the nozzle clamp free. I think there is too much plastic nearby to try my regular butane or MAPP torches. A lot of the PETG is on the clamping which doesn't get hot enough just heat soaking even at 280-290.

Yes, micro-butane! I think that would be a winner.

Looks like the A1 printer will become a long-term project rebuild. The downside of a quick change nozzle system is that all of the screws for almost everything related to the toolhead except the extruder are located behind the nozzle. The printer looks like it only needs about $40.00 worth of parts but getting the old parts out is going to be very difficult as they are fully encased in PETG now.

The only thing I can do with the A1 is chip away at the PETG by heating the nozzle to 280+ to melt as much as possible and keep picking at it until I can get the nozzle out, then replace the heating assembly and nozzle. The PETG is very hard and fully encrusting the nozzle assembly and heating assembly so I expect to just keep at it in dribs and drabs for quite a while. Once the nozzle is out it should be fairly easy to finish.

I haven't used the Centauri Carbon in a long time as I don't much care for it but I'll go over it and see if I can get it tuned well enough to print the brick holder as it won't fit on the A1 Mini. In the meantime, looks like I'll be putting my AI Blade Grows up for sale after all so I can start saving for a new printer. Maybe some other stuff as well.

In other news, my new corals from Pieces of the Ocean are currently seated in First Class, drinking Mimosas and using those warm towelettes. Then they'll take the limo to here after a thorough tour of the valley.
I have two Creality K1C with the same problem . been sitting for months you could also try using a soldier gun too . I cant wait to here all the swearing im going to do trying to fix mine this summer :)

I do like the H2C's.
I find the H2C interesting but I'd rather have a Core L with INDX but it needs a chamber heater to put it on a par with the H2C. I think the nozzle changer with induction heating is a nice upgrade from the dual head but still not as good as a tool changer.

so if you can guess how far in is safe, try a dremel with a tiny bit. I've been playing with mine today and been doing micro passes with it while using a magnifying glass to see better and getting decent results. just thinking you can do a little surgery on that and use the heat pull it back the rest of the way to get the petg off.

Some On30 locos, cars, and track, maybe some N cars and track; two beginner Chinese, an intermediate German, and an intermediate French violins; not sure on the body parts as most are in pretty sorry shape.

how's your L5 to S1 vertebrate? I could use a new one of those!

That's not a bad idea as I consider both the nozzle and heating assembly to be sacrificial at this point. The good news is this is the first nozzle clog out of hundreds of print hours.
