Hoping everyone has been well. Tank has been fine. Lost the tonga hammer that got shipped in she's sending a replacement. Anthias is having troubles again. Big aptasia bloom... Aptasia everywhere it's bad. My seller that shipped me the hammer I think is gonna send me some nudibranches for them so we can get those out quick. Also mysterious sand mounds have popped up in my tank. 0 idea where they came from.

John, how big is your frag tank? ! have two 39" Blade Grows that I'm planning to sell. I just can't figure out what I did with the box for one of them yet.

It's a 50 gallon. 35" long. I guess I should say, it will be. I haven't purchased the tank just yet. It'll probably be after tax returns. Im definitely looking for lights!

Possibly an Anthias or Royal Gramma cocoon. They sleep in mucous cocoons that they sometimes cover with sand.

Our daily lunch was from one in the plant right between rendering department and waste water... the aroma was beautiful

So I guess is if I am trying to run the lights for (not max) but 12 hours total (or at least 10) I run the max for 5-6 hours and do I do a gradual ramp or maybe a photo period at night with lower whites, reds, and greens. How does this new par map look. Assuming Acros on the rock work.

If I went to far down let me know. I could probably get a higher peak around 400 at the top. I went from 80/20 to 56/14. If I go up to 60/15 I could start hitting 400 at the top again.

I'd try for 400 on the rocks. You could ramp up, do a peak, then ramp down. No need for lighting at night. Granted in nature during say a full moon, some of the shallow corals get a little illumination. However, corals needs a period of darkness where no photosynthesis is occurring. Remember, that once light intensity reaches a certain point, corals have to protect themselves from the light, expending energy. During the night, they can recover.

This is what I ended up going with for now. I did a 5 hour peek photo period with two hours of ramp up and 3 hours ramp down. This should give me around 350-450 on the rock work during peek times. The front sand bed is higher par as well.
